Pros

I did enjoy some personal growth in the medical transcription field while working for InScribe.

Cons

Compensation for MTs was low. Everyone was required to work as an Independent Contractor, so therefore, NO benefits (no health, dental, vision insurance; no disability insurance available; no savings/401-K; etc.). Projects assigned unrelated to actual transcription are compensated at terribly low rates. Owners and many of the managers with NO medical transcription experience, which translates to lack of understanding what is involved in this field. Lack of professionalism in verbal and written communication. Major changes made on a whim, leaving those involved feeling it was not really "thought through" properly.

Pros

Having the blast room is great for someone who's new to the account since you can have more experienced people listen to your problem spots and help you figure out what the doc is saying.

Cons

The down side to having the blast room is that so much time is spent on trying to fill blanks by waiting for other people to listen, you're making very little money for the time you're putting in. I made more than $200 a month less during my time at InScribe than I did as a brand new transcriptionist.
