Pros

None, what was once looked like a great company to work for has gone down hill quickly over the past few months.

Cons

The previous CEO was amazing and not just a leader but a genuinely kind individual. He prioritized the well-being of his team, showing empathy and respect in every decision. Under his guidance, Intellisense Systems felt like a company that valued its employees and had a promising trajectory. With initiatives like every other Friday off, it was the kind of organization where people envisioned long-term careers and felt proud to be a part of. However, everything changed when a new CEO took over in June. Communication with senior staff became sparse, and a wave of layoffs began sweeping through the company. These reductions have been staggered, with groups of approximately ten employees being let go every few weeks. This pattern raises concerns about the potential intention to sidestep California’s WARN Act, which requires advance notice for mass layoffs. The new CEO's vision for the company seems vastly different from his predecessor’s, and the atmosphere has shifted to a very negative outlook. After years of dedication to this organization, I was given only about a month of severance. I now face the harsh reality of losing my home, as I no longer have the means to cover things. The suddenness and lack of support have left me with little time to secure new employment. What once felt like a solid career choice has turned into one of the most regrettable decisions I’ve made. As more skilled employees are let go, I fear the company’s future is in jeopardy. I give it another year, maybe a year and a half at best, before the impact of these decisions becomes irreparable. While the CEO may be rewarded by investors for cutting costs in the short term, it seems these choices are undermining the long-term stability and morale of the organization. Current Concerns: • Severance packages are insufficient, providing only one week of pay for every year of service, regardless of tenure. • Employees are treated as expendable, leading to alarmingly high turnover, even among top-performing staff, to reduce costs. • The company’s future outlook appears grim as the new CEO shifts focus away from what made it a great place to work. • The 9/80 schedule, which offered employees a valuable work-life balance, is being eliminated, pushing employees back to a standard 5-day workweek. This change is out of sync with competitors who are moving toward more flexible, four-day work weeks. Intellisense Systems is no longer the employee-centric place it once was. What’s most disheartening is seeing a company that once had so much potential lose sight of its values and its people.

Bad Management, Talented Team

Intellisense has plenty of talented employees, good PTO, 9/80 schedule, top tier consultants, room for growth.

Cons

Earlier this year, I would have rated Intellisense four stars. However, since the new CEO’s appointment, changes in management, and a series of layoffs — five rounds in four consecutive months — the company’s direction feels increasingly uncertain. New management often brings in people from their previous companies, which sometimes compromises the emphasis on securing top talent. After multiple layoffs, morale has taken a serious hit, yet expectations around project timelines remain unchanged, adding pressure to an already strained workforce. This leadership team doesn’t seem to fully understand the scope of engineering roles. Critical tasks are frequently misallocated — for example, scientists performing technician duties, software engineers handling qualification testing and EMI, and myself, a Systems Engineer, transitioning from a fully staffed team to being the sole engineer on a project. This role consolidation has required me to handle assembly, testing, project engineering, and more. It’s disappointing to see a company with so much potential deteriorating due to what feels like mismanagement and an unwillingness to course-correct. As the lead engineer on my projects, I’ve witnessed firsthand how these layoffs have hindered progress, making it difficult for any new team to quickly get up to speed. I genuinely care about this company and wish them success. I hope they begin listening to their staff, as morale has been deeply affected.
