Thank you for taking the time to share this perspective.
On the point about “needing to speak Russian”: InvestEngine is a UK company and English has always been — and will remain — our working language. We’re a cross-cultural, diverse team and we’re proud of the range of backgrounds and perspectives across the business. That diversity should make collaboration stronger, not harder — and it’s clear from your feedback that, in your experience, we didn’t do enough to ensure communication felt consistently inclusive. We’re taking that as a learning and strengthening expectations around day-to-day communication, meetings, and documentation so everyone can participate fully.
On management and HR support: we take the feedback about inconsistency seriously. As we scale, we’re continuing to improve the foundations that make day-to-day work clearer and more predictable — including stronger goal setting, more regular check-ins, and clearer ways to measure progress — so expectations are transparent and support is consistent across teams.
On tools (including AI): we do use automation to reduce admin and create more time for high-value work, but it’s not a substitute for good leadership, direct communication, or healthy debate. We want people to ask questions, challenge constructively, and contribute ideas — that’s how we build a better business and a better product.
On pay and benefits: as a growing company we are transparent we won’t always match the largest firms on package, but we’re deliberate about improving what we offer. We introduced new benefits last year and we’re committed to continuing to strengthen the overall package as we grow.
