Once a good company, now terribly managed

Pros

Great network of employees, so-so benefits WHEN and IF paid out, decent number of paid holidays, relatively reliable work environment.

Cons

Completely outdated software, which pulls faulty information at best. Cronyism and favoritism rule the roost instead of sound business sense and doing what is best for the company. If you are at the top, you can dictate just about anything you want. At the lower levels employees are expected to accept the status quo. New ideas and innovation are shunned and discouraged. Processes and procedures are not documented and training is passed on by whoever is available. There are no best practices only legacy practices, which may or may not be correct or efficient. Over the past couple of years, the company has ceased to invest in its employees. The owners are multi-billionaires but continue to take away benefits from the very employees who made the company profitable. There is always an angle to be worked and it is never in favor of the employee no matter the tenure with the company. If you are a woman BEWARE! This is a Good Ol' Boys club and women are considered to be the "Secretaries" of the company. Don't expect your ideas to be heard, just do what you are told and keep your head down. There are no women at the top and no opportunities for advancement. You will be encouraged to get more education than necessary and once that is achieved it is far from likely you will receive any promotion. You will be paid less than male counterparts and be given less than below the standard annual merit increase. You will then be told to be thankful for your job.

Poor management, lack of communication, workload overload, and underpaid

Pros

Holidays and PTO. The people worth getting to know are few and far between. Networking with clients and other office personnel.

Cons

Management. If you are not a suck up, you won't get very far. If you are a female, you will never amount to anything there.

Pros

Good pay as long as they like you or if they like your manager. I was told that once that if certain people didn't like you, you'd be gone in six months.

Cons

There is a a lot of infighting amongst the managers. This was a family company but now they have "professional" management. But I can't decide whose throat the "professional" managers are trying to slit the workers or the family.
