Pros

Unfortunately, the only pro to this job was meeting the team that made up the Jennifer Maker company. The team is an underutilized, amazing group of smart, talented, creative individuals that are treated unfairly.

Cons

I have spent the last year of my life having the misfortune of working for one of the most messed up companies I have ever been part of. I have never seen someone treat other people the way this horrible human treats her employees. I hate that the Jennifer Maker business is built on the false assumption she's a nice person, she's not...she's a literal monster. I have never seen such a high turn over, I have never had to stand up for people in a professional setting just to demand they be treated with common courtesy. I have never in my life seen people be fired for asking questions, for help or for guidance. I have never been part of so many messed up mind games. I am coming out of this employment feeling as though I just escaped an abusive relationship. If you ever feel this way (regardless of the situation)-it's not worth the pain, stress and sadness-just leave and don't lose anymore of yourself ❤️ Reading some of these other reviews makes me sad as the blame was fully put on the COO. There is no doubt that the COO was just as bad as Jennifer Maker, but not worse. Jennifer Maker hid behind her COO and together along with the "HR Hero" they made and continue to make their employees lives miserable. And just so everyone knows (if you are a former/current employee)--the COO was knowingly arrested for fraud (not the first time, a month before our retreat) and was able to still work and handle personal documentation from all employees. Don't believe me? Look it up.

Pros

The work is remote which allows a semi-balanced work/home life. The team at JenniferMaker is a group of talented individuals who are just AMAZING. The employees are a joy to work alongside and I have made many life-long friendships from my time there. JenniferMaker offers competitive pay.

Cons

I feel compelled to share my distressing experience at this company. Despite her kind facade, Jennifer, the CEO, hides behind her COO and allows her to publicly demean employees on various platforms, creating a hostile atmosphere. Micro-management is rampant, hindering efficiency and professional growth, despite the company's claim to follow a framework. While the company offers competitive salaries, the 'Jenuine' facade is fake, as employees fear public humiliation by upper management. Capable individuals are stifled due to the COO's unchecked authority and Jennifer's complacency. The COO's negligence, frequent over indulgence in alcohol, and nepotism toward family members disrupt the team's workflow, undermining morale. Most disheartening is the company's response to morale issues – instead of addressing concerns, employees are swiftly shown the door. I strongly advise against considering this company as an employer due to its toxic culture and inept upper management. Future employees, beware of unscrupulous practices and insincere leadership. My time there has left me with genuine distress, and I sincerely caution against joining this organization.

It’s NOT What It Seems

Pros

Remote work is the only pro.

Cons

JM takes credit for everything when it’s her Team that does the hard work. As an employee you are never recognized by her. She appears to be this amazing person, but treats her employees like we don’t exist. She runs from anything that is a hard conversation. She’s so worried about what the public thinks but doesn’t care about the people who make all the designs and do the work. It’s like being with someone daily who is emotionally abusive. Don’t work for her. She will ruin your love of crafting!
