Getting worse with each day.

Pros

At one point, JoVE had an excellent work culture with achievable deadlines and targets. The upper management did not interfere in the day to day tasks or activities of each employee and the managers had full accountability and authority over their teams. But it is not the same anymore.

Cons

With time, the upper management has started interfering more and more with day to day activities of employees in each department, giving unrealistic goals and targets. It is beyond micromanagement...more like nanomanagement. Senior or mid-senior level employees have no say in the processes or workflow. If anyone objects to any idea or decision made by upper management, you are thrown out of the company. No empathy or loyalty towards employees even who have worked with the company for more than a decade. The CEO has no vision for the company and its all downhill from here.

Pros

- Remote work is the only benefit. Everyone here is only working here for this singular benefit

Cons

- You can be fired any day, without a reason, no matter how hard you worked, or if your project is a top priority, or you have brought significant growth to the business. If the CEO doesn't like what you are building/proposing (based on his personal opinions), you are fired. - Join only if you can work under the constant fear of getting fired any day - Beware of the lies told during hiring, for example, if you question them on why the glassdoor rating is extremely poor, they will give you one of the below reasons -- We did a round of layoffs, which led to people giving poor reviews. This company lays off people every 2-3 months -- The team you are being hired for is pretty protected and other teams (sales team/content team etc. gets fired due to difficult targets). Truth is, there are tough targets in a lot of companies, but it takes a special kind of evil to earn a rating soo low. -- We were shifting to hiring from India due to high productinvity and better cost, hence the poor ratings are from employees from other countries since they were being let go. This is untrue because the company's behavior has be similar to indians or non indians while firing. - Save yourself from any other lies being told while hiring to justify their poor reviews, and take more time to find better opportunities

Pros

Erosion of Autonomy: The work environment is so oppressive that it feels like your autonomy and decision-making power are constantly under siege, pushing you into a role where you're merely a puppet. Negative Impact on Well-Being: This disturbing situation is not just affecting your work life; it's also taking a toll on your overall well-being, causing stress and anxiety due to the lack of control over your work and decisions. Loss of Professional Identity: Being reduced to a puppet in this work culture has resulted in a loss of your professional identity, where you're no longer able to contribute your skills and expertise effectively, making your work life incredibly frustrating.

Cons

The cons of the company are more than the stars one can count in the sky. Here are a few cons: 1. Incompetent Management 2. Manipulated and falsely informative "Senior or other Production Manager" 3. Unskilled Writer/ Editor creating low-quality content for different branches (STEM). 4. Hired through a consultancy firm instead of enrolling directly with JoVE company. 5. Bonuses missing 6. Too much work and deadlines 7. The boss makes decisions based on wine taste and mood.
