Pros

Great benefits and a convenient work location. Engineering contributors can sometimes work from home. Compensation is fair and competitive. I've never felt chained to my device when I've reserved time out of the office.

Cons

Sometimes the commute to SF gets old. We're building things fast, well, and lean, so sometimes there are challenges. The hardest part of being away for a few days is catching up to where we have gotten while I've been away.

Great Place to Work with Great People to Work With

Pros

- I worked at a few other companies before joining June, and while I've always thought my ex-coworkers were great, they've never been as great as the people at June. Not only is everybody at June really good at what they do, but everybody is also incredibly kind and understanding. Companies always say that their engineers have no ego, and June is the first place where I've actually felt that to be true. - June has all the great qualities of a startup while also not having (most of) the bad qualities of a startup. As an engineer, you get a great amount of responsibility on the products and features you work on. Being that we're building hardware products, you also get to work on really cool projects that you wouldn't be exposed to at the usual software companies. It's a great environment for people looking to challenge themselves. That being said, you might expect June to be another one of those startups where you'd have to put in grueling hours or find yourself putting out fires all the time. However, that's in no way the case here at June and that's probably one of the best qualities of our engineering team. After two years, I can't recall any single instances where I found myself stressed and forced to work over the weekend. We have a solid release schedule going, and the team is seasoned enough to be pretty good at estimating tasks and planning out features. Our deadlines are driven by engineers and not product managers or the whims of the leadership team, and it's great. - The product is awesome. It's a great feeling to be able to work on a product that you use everyday, and a product that you're super proud to tell all your friends and families about. - Work from home Wednesdays - Given that we are building ovens, there's a lot of great food available at all times from Chefs testing out new recipes. Sometimes I wonder why I even go out to eat anymore - Unlimited PTO is actually unlimited and nobody gives you grief for taking time off as long as the work gets done - Bad managers can really make or break your experience at a company, and our current manager, Ry, definitely makes the experience - Nobody is stuck in meetings all day. I personally hate being in meetings most of the time, and I love how I only have about 3 regular weekly meetings. - We have awesome monthly team events like a succulent workshop, Halloween scavenger hunt, Thanksgiving potluck, game nights, and so much more. - There's great benefits like a gym stipend, Lyft stipend, yearly learning budget, phone reimbursement, great insurance plans and everybody gets a June oven!!

Cons

- Being that we are a startup, there's less structure. So if you like the process of getting regular performance reviews and working towards promotions, you won't get that here. - It's not a glamorous office by any means
