I worked at KPFF full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people are very friendly and the environment is more collaborative than it is competitive. The horizontal structure of the company also allows younger engineers to step into larger roles earlier in their careers than they would at other companies. The comp time perk is nice too.

    Cons

The benefits and compensation package are mediocre within the industry.

    Advice to Management

Provide more constructive criticism to employees.

      I worked at KPFF full-time

      Pros

      Good employee education, resources, benefits.

      Cons

Poor management feedback, review of performance.

      Advice to Management

Earlier, more frequent feedback would prevent an employee from having a false sense of security.

I have been working at KPFF full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Interesting projects, lots of room for following and pursuing personal interests, company is invested in culture, beautiful/modern office space, work closely with others, social office environment, comp time (pay or vacation for every hour you work)!!

      Cons

Lower pay than competitors, mostly male management though there is conscious effort to help promote women, office can be loud/distracting at times

I have been working at KPFF full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Flexible hours, overtime can be paid out at 1.0x or can be used as PTO. Diverse company with great people to work with. Projects are fun and can be high profile. Good culture, flat organization.

      Cons

Salary may be lower than market value. Long hours can be expected. Flat organization may lead to uncertain career path. Hard workers are valued the same as people who drag their feet. There seems to be a lot of office politics and favoritism, but not more than any other company. Everyone is busy, it’s hard to get time and support. Some teams seem understaffed. Questionable management practices.

      Advice to Management

Salary should be adjusted to the current economy across all positions. It seems like there is a huge gap in pay between top earners and the rest of the company. Pay the people who do excellent work or they will start looking elsewhere. Provide proper support to the engineers, especially the ones who work copious amounts of OT. Invest in the employees.

I worked at KPFF full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Great company culture, if you are an alcoholic

      Cons

Project managers can't wait for new employees to come through the door. As soon as you do, they'll dump all the crap they (or anyone else) don't want to do on your desk.

      Advice to Management

You can't advise someone whose already got it all figured out

I worked at KPFF full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

The organization is incredibly open minded to entrepreneurial individuals. If you have an interest in something, and can show that you have the ability to profitably take on work, most people in leadership will support you. The principals are generally a well-versed and strategic group, who are widely trusted to be driving the company while thinking about the long-term stability and profitability.

      Cons

While the flat organization and independent operating structure allows for great flexibility and adaptability, the lack of centralized data management can cause gaps in information flow and inconsistencies from one project/group/division/manager to the next. Similarly, those with an interest in cutting edge technology would likely find the speed to adoption of new project management software in this setting to be stifling.
