Pros

I was able to learn a lot each day as a multimedia journalist. I was able to fill in anchor all the time adding content to my reels. I met some amazing friends and mentors.

Cons

Short staffed the entire time I was there. I would work 7-10 days of 12+ hour shifts with one a day break in between constantly. HR did not handle my complaints the correct way putting me in vulnerable situations. I broke my contract after many others did because I knew working there was only going to be more difficult and not worth it. Many more ended up leaving after I did including reporters, producers, and even the news director. I was guilted each time I called in sick by colleagues and management - they would call me a couple hours after calling in sick to “check on me” and see if I had gotten better and could come in. The station and location where it was based was not great.

Pros

You learn a lot due to lots of opportunity to go out and work independently however actual training is almost nonexistent.

Cons

Leadership has never worked in the field and will often ask things that just don't make sense. Will not communicate these ideas well either.
