Pros

1. Work From Home is a plus. 2. Some people are (or should I say were) genuinely nice.

Cons

1. No 401k. Average pay. 2. Code base is terribly maintained. Lot of bugs. 3. No long-term or short-term direction or vision. 4. Engineering managers are inexperienced and seem to favor only certain members of the team. 5. No acknowledgement for any job done. Favoritism runs rampant. 6. Hiring standard is very high for a company with mediocre codebase.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We recognize that compensation, benefits, leadership experience, and recognition all materially affect employee experience. We use industry-standard tools to determine compensation ranges and regularly review our offerings, including benefits and equity, to ensure they are competitive and fair across roles and levels. In parallel, we’ve been making deliberate investments to strengthen engineering leadership, improve platform reliability, clarify longer-term direction to make sure we are aligned across teams, and reinforce consistent expectations around performance, recognition, and fairness. We also hold a high hiring bar because the work we do is complex and meaningful. We will continue to invest in improving the systems and processes that support our existing team in doing their best work. As with any growing organization, there is always room to improve. We appreciate this perspective and wish you the best in your next chapter.

Dishonest company and potential fraud

Pros

Hybrid work. Other than that, not much.

Cons

The product is extremely buggy due to poor engineering decisions and reluctance to modernize the tech stack. To make things worse, they let go of a few folks who knew what they were doing and replaced them with people who just want to get on the AI bandwagon. I worked there for a while and I can confirm that the culture is quite toxic. These folks hire people who have gamed the system. For example, I have literally had a conversation with an engineering manager bragging about how they got away while illegally working as a baby sitter on their student visa. Additionally, from what I have heard from friends still at the company, they have started off-shoring jobs to Mexico for cheaper labor while undercutting American talent. Very dishonest sales tactics. Always over selling non-existing features and expecting the engineering team to deliver on un-realistic timelines. When PMs pushback, they get fired and replaced with "Yes Boss" kinda people. The positive reviews you see on Glassdoor?? FAKE. Like someone said previously, take the positive reviews with a grain of salt. They are definitely written by HR.

Before we get into addressing the feedback in this review, we'd like to begin by saying that based on the self reported details about this alleged former employee, we do not believe that they are who they claim to be. Several aspects of the reviewer's stated role, tenure, and description of the organization structure are inconsistent with our internal records. These discrepancies raise questions about the accuracy of the review and suggest that the reviewer either did not work at Kiddom in the capacity described or has not been part of the organization for a considerable period of time. However, since some of the allegations target the integrity and professionalism of members of our team, we believe it is important to address them directly. The suggestion that Kiddom is engaged in "potential fraud" or knowingly employs individuals who are not legally authorized to work in the United States is false. Kiddom works closely with experienced immigration counsel, participates in the E-Verify program, and partners with a professional employer organization (PEO) to help ensure compliance with all employment eligibility verification requirements. We follow established legal processes for all visa-sponsored employees and take our compliance obligations seriously. The example cited in this review relates to alleged conduct that occurred before an individual was employed by Kiddom. Regardless, the review attempts to draw conclusions about Kiddom's hiring practices and raises implications about members of our team. We reject those implications. We also want to address the assertion that Kiddom's positive Glassdoor reviews are "written by HR." That claim is simply not credible and unfairly dismisses the experiences of many current and former employees who have chosen to share positive feedback about their time here. Kiddom has received positive reviews spanning nearly a decade, including many that were posted before our HR function existed. While we understand that not every employee will have a positive experience, it is equally important to recognize that many others have had meaningful and rewarding experiences at Kiddom. Their perspectives deserve the same respect as any critical review. Several of the statements regarding our Product and Engineering teams are difficult to reconcile with the current composition and tenure of the team today. The same is true of several comments regarding our product and tech stack. This further demonstrates that if this reviewer has worked at Kiddom, they have not worked with Kiddom for quite some time. Reasonable people can disagree about business decisions, product strategy, or workplace culture. However, claims regarding legal compliance or the integrity of our employees deserve a factual response.

Pros

Kiddom had a strong history of recruiting top talent. My time at Kiddom was spent with some of the brightest folks I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Cons

Much like many others have said. The cofounders have had little experience running a business. Their vision is far and wide, and their focus is almost absent. They believe Kiddom will revolutionize the education industry (both the product and the company), and refuse to recognize the platform barely does what they claim it can do. And the sweep terrible toxicity (that originates from them) under the rug and claim to be a healthy, balanced, focused workforce. Every member of the sales and marketing team who were on board in January '22 had left the company by the end of September. Virtually everyone did so with a bad taste in their mouth.
