Pros

Located in downtown Charleston, SC. Office space is in restored old building in the heart of King Street restaurant/bar district. Free parking.

Cons

Managing Director: - an extreme micro-manager - curses like a drunken sailor - degrades employees- especially female employees - takes all praise for self / blames most everyone else for any problems Longest tenured employee was approximately 1.5 years The "pitch" used to attract (young, hungry, naive) interns and consultants is very misleading and decieving

Pros

Great office in downtown Charleston. Pet-Friendly. Snacks provided. Solid exposure to client leadership. Managing Director is a strong motivator.

Cons

There's a reason this company has not experienced much growth and is still a small 8-10 person firm. Managing Director is extremely scatter-brained in directing the course and cadence of the work his consultants produce. In my time there we churned out very few marketing pieces or white papers because the MD could not make up his mind on what he wanted. The MD tends to motivate company personnel through fear. Such terms as "you will be shot" or "I'm going to kick your ***" are directed to employees frequently in public settings. Besides the constant rage the MD directs to his employees, he frequently engages in unprofessional behavior. Compensation for an MBA graduate entering the consulting field is below market. Lack of client work and the company's need to compete on fixed fee engagements make it near impossible to hit the required utilization to collect a bonus. Recruiting tactics to attract experienced professionals and graduate students are questionable at best. I had no idea regarding the firm's instability due to the sole dependence on cash flow from a single client when I interviewed and subsequently accepted the offer. After I started working there, the MD mentioned to myself and another new colleague that we should be scared ****-less for agreeing to work for him. When we were recruiting other MBA students, we were instructed to keep these aforementioned details from candidates.

Pros

The team I work with is top-notch and is hyper focused on creating value for our clients. The work is challenging and the corporate culture is one that holds you accountable for driving performance and delivering high-quality work.

Cons

It is tough to recruit as we are located in a smaller market and at times, we have too much on our collective plates. However, we have all agreed not to ‘shop hungry’ and only hire if they are a good fit.
