Could have been the best, but we've lost it

Pros

Some really topnotch people inside who want to do something important together. Some remnants of the former great culture linger but as we see people leave this falls lower every day.

Cons

Leadership. Cannot keep it together (or even stay together - how many have turned this year??). Cannot guide this company out of struggle (they clearly have never done this before). All starts at the top (white boy Swedes only make it - D&I is laughable). No wonder the good ones keep leaving. So many layoffs with clearly no plan or control. Even they look lost at this point and are making things up. Can't think beyond Swedish needs, forget the other geos because they don't even understand them so they ignore. What used to be a mission we could all get behind, it is now become pointless. No innovation. Just 'fix healthcare' as if practitioners haven't been trying to do that for decades... belittling and lacking a soul. Really could have been the best, we had so much to build on and the doors of opportunity are there for change in healthcare, but this leadership couldn't show the 'grit' they say we should through seeing the value they had and standing either behind it, or getting out of the way so real leaders could get us where we could go. So depressing.

Pros

- Fast paced (can be considered a con). - Feels like you're doing something that matters. - Nice people. - A lot of autonomy within the teams.

Cons

- Decisions and structures can change overnight (can be considered a pro). - Management decided to lay off people and reorganize the team structures. Then they called for faster pace and set arbitrary short deadlines, and were surprised when the quality was lowered. - Management blames the people on the ground for poor quality work, when it's their decisions that led them there. - CEO has no experience in healthcare and it shows. - Can be stressful at times.

Pros

Ability to work from home full time Decent work life balance Cool product

Cons

Lack of transparency from leadership, especially around layoffs and reasons for prioritizing and not prioritizing certain things. Recently, autonomy has been taken completely away from teams and we're expected to just work on a list of things, with no explanation of why those things were chosen or the research/insights behind them. Product managers feel like project managers these days. Lots of extremely smart people are jumping ship now, and it's impossible to hire backfills due to a hiring freeze. Very senior design management seems out of touch with reality and introduces disruptive changes without regard for teams.
