Pros

Great benefits. LSU AgCenter was very organized with professional development meetings. Up to date with technology . Made a difference in the lives of individuals by research based information and programs. Self-fulling job.

Cons

Raises are only given if the state legislatures vote each year. I only was given a raise based on promotion and tenure. There is not pay scale within the LSU AgCenter. The starting salary for incoming agents was increasing, but no compensation for agents that had put in their time. As a 4-H Agent there is a lot of night and weekend work with no comp or overtime given. Must drive personal vehicle, so will put lots of miles on it (however you are compensated for state mileage rate). Very little opportunity for advancement.
