There is a surface atmosphere of happiness and kindness but the truth underneath that is everyone being SUPER political and throwing each other under the bus so they don't look bad.
This attitude stems from the top. Impossible asks are made, and if there is any push back that person soon finds themselves fired. Friday at 5pm? It doesn't matter - a whole new ask will come in that is not low effort by any means, and employees will be expected to work all weekend to make it happen. Then when this un-researched ask fails, everyone blames each other. Everyone pretends to be friends, but this dog eat dog atmosphere encourages teams to mistrust each other and therefore work in silos.
There are very few effective procedures, ways of working, or SOP in place so every project is re-inventing the wheel and working harder in order to look good politically, rather than working smarter and building off what is in place today even though it may not be as flashy as creating something net new.
