Good for some, only ok for others. Relatively comperable to several other local businesses in the area.
Pros
They work to ensure opportunities for consistent hours even when work slows down. Most employees are extremely nice and helpful. Health insurance coverage is very good, going through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Early on, they are good about working with you when time off is required or unexpected scenarios arise. Paid vacation is earned every year with an unpaid option also. Half of the vacation earned that year rolls over to the next year.
Cons
Pay is relatively low across the company. In addition, painters are put under constant pressure to perform and employee turnover is high. This leads to often understaffing of painters, other line workers, and assemblers. The longer you are with the company, the more they attempt to make you feel bad for having time off whether it be an illness or other unplanned factor which is contrary to conduct early in one's MEC career. There are no personal or sick days, leaving the few vacation hours earned to cover everything that could come up throughout the year. Half of the vacation earned that year falls off at the end of the year also. If using an HVLP paint gun, you must stay AFTER your scheduled shift to clean and maintain it every day. The MEC East facility is rather dirty and dark also. The point system for attendance is antiquated and has resulted in the loss of several quality employees.
