Rostering is ridiculously inefficient, moving people unnecessarily from site to site, without any thought as to why they're doing it. Doing so often fills one hole, but creates another in terms of manning. There's also a huge problem with staff retention, and the management don't seem to want to make any drastic changes to reduce the number of employees leaving. BHP gives all contracting companies a 3% pay rise each year to give to their staff. Earlier last year, MSS gave us a 0.75% payrise, and then six months later, gave us another 0.75%, with the condition that we would receive it if no one called in sick. We never saw the rest of the 1.5%.
