Learning exposure on the cost of Poor work life balance

Pros

1. You will get to work on trending technologies. 2. You will get monthly leaves credit, which you can't use because you can't even use your comp offs. Magic drains your leaves and at the end of the year they give 1000₹ per leave if you have more than 15 leaves by keeping your leave balance to 15. 3. Fun activities are arranged by Magic on multiple occasions/festivals. 4. 100₹ PayTm money if you stay till 9 pm and good cab facility for girls. 5. Good director, he is a gem of the person but doesn't get to know the problems being faced by the employees till the matter is escalated or employee resigns.

Cons

1. Work life balance is something managers don't bother about. When you pack your bags, start to leave they will call you from behind asking for what you have done today? Please work for another hour and then leave. (First of its kind unprofessional way of treating employees I have witnessed) 2. Resource crunch is something which is asked available resources to handle, work more, more and more.... Because management can't plan the resources better but they have every right to bully you. 3. No quarterly manager feedback by employees to HR. HR meets are limited too, hence attrition is rising. 4. A person can work 10am to 10pm a day or two, but this kind of expectation for complete week is unrealistic. 5. Personal life killer, your wife/kids will keep calling you but that doesn't matter here.

Thank you for your feedback. Clearly, you like the work and we thank you for your acknowledgment. Let me see if I can address your concerns below: a) Magic grants 18 paid leaves in year 1 and 24 paid leaves from year 2 onwards. There are no strings attached to these leaves as most other companies do like weekends are not included, there is no restriction on clubbing these leaves with holidays etc. In addition, Magic has 8 annual holidays. Magic allows its employees to encash unused leaves at the end of the year beyond 15 leaves. The reason we have kept 15 limit is for employee's own welfare because we wouldn't like them to exhaust all leaves and start with a 0 balance. Needless to say, all unused leaves are encashed at the time of exit, and that too at the last drawn basic salary. b) Leaves are encashed at last drawn basic salary which is industry standard for companies that allow leave encashment. c) 100₹ payTM money transfer is in lieu of food coupon to recognize the late hours being put by the employee, in addition to company cab. d) Your concern on work pressure is fair and there are some clients where there is a high workload. Having said this, you have acknowledged that the work quality is good so some employees find this challenging and perhaps stay with us because of such challenges. I suggest you formally ask your team manager for a change and move into a stream/work with a higher potential of work-life balance.

Pros

I have been a witness to the journey of this entity. The organization has been consistently expanding its horizons wrt to traditional & latest tech-stacks (.NET, Blockchain, Machine Learning, NLP etc.) with an unbiased platform to each individual showcasing his/her true potential and get rewarded. Leadership's vision is very clear as to what they were, are and plan to be at. This could be a great platform for ones who aspire towards being part of a small-to-mid sized progressive set-up with experimenting their existing skills and adding few more in their expert areas. A ground-connect with onsite stakeholders thru frequent travels also helps to explore about assignment. Into the bargain one also gets to enjoy fun activities / team gatherings making team more cohesive and cooperative.

Cons

None as of now.
