Pros

- Friendly and easygoing group of peers. Typically, fellow hourly workers don't have egos so it is a fun work environment - Relaxed dress code - Decent place to gain technical design experience. Learn about inks, print finishes, photo editing, resolution, both digital and print format, etc. - Variety of stationery products are fun to work on

Cons

Creative - President ends up dictating this team’s projects but rarely even speaks to them. - All female creative design team has little to no say in new product development. President will discuss ideas with male IT department and machine operators at the plant, but won’t even invite the female creative team to the table to discuss trends and new ideas. - Massively underpaid for creative work. Since management sees the creative team just as girls who make things pretty (not problem solvers and idea generators) they pay accordingly. - CONSTANTLY switching priorities and tasks. Severe lack of project management leads to unrealistic deadlines. It typically results in a mad rush to get new products done on a whim because no one is willing to challenge the President. General - Owners decide who gets to work remotely - based on favoritism, not on job description. - Owners talk poorly of past (and current) employees to other employees. - No system in place to address issues: HR works out of Chicago office, no tradition of annual reviews, managers work from home and are very busy… if you do bring something up, it will likely fall through the cracks or it will be received and left completely unaddressed because owners don’t want to acknowledge that issues even exist.
