Pros

They entertain hiring a diverse workforce Offer a decent selection of workwear for the trades

Cons

Where do I start. PLEASE READ! Hired young as a female working in a male dominated business, I expected to get some resistance to my desire to advance my career. I stayed at this dead end job part time for years to pay student loans. I was subjected to an unbelievable amount of harassment and physical abuse that was pushed upon me as a young woman. I put up with it out of fear of not being able to afford basic necessities as a student. I was cat called and ass-grabbed at work, and was forced to sleep with members, yes plural, of management and staff, and offered a promotion as a reward. I left very shortly after for obvious reasons. I had legal counsel advise me to pursue legal action, and when brought to Marks HR department, I was not only shrugged off, but had to send multiple emails/phone calls/and a letter demanding an answer. The reply I did receive was “we’ll look into your claims”, and I never got a response afterwards. Furthermore, the individuals who abused me remained management in Marks, and one was even promoted to a Store Manager position. I feel confident enough to bring this to light now after years of struggling with self-identity issues and trauma from the harassment I received from members of leadership at my job. FGL Sports values penises. Period.

Pros

Large, Canadian organization! Low turnover at Store Mgr Level and above! Good products with good innovation. Company is definitely trying to move into the current century

Cons

Disorganized method of doing business, Respect for People- has left the building!, No one ever talks about sales!!!???? Absent leadership from the Regional VP levels.... "ignore it and it will go away" seems to be the mindset. People need to see PEOPLE!

Pros

Hours and benefits are standard. There are some really wonderful, hard-working and knowledgeable people there.

Cons

Corporate culture is an issue, especially for women. Management is almost entirely a boys club. They keep trying to change things up by hiring and promoting more middle-aged white guys. "New" ideas are mostly just repeating what didn't work. No upward mobility in positions or salary (maybe more mobility if you start at the very bottom?). They pay as little as they can get away with and will minimize accomplishments to keep people in line. They do promote from within, but they don't seem to support the right people in this. I'm always shocked by the incapable people who are rewarded and the hard-working, effective people who are overlooked. Corporate staff are paid to work an 8 hour day (paid for 7.5) but seem to be expected to work at least 9. Many work more than that consistently.
