Pros

- The products Marketware sells are great and getting better every month - There market that Marketware is tapping is fairly untapped, so growth will continue to be exponential in the short to mid term - Generally nice, hard-working colleagues, not a lot of big egos

Cons

- You have to understand that even though Marketware looks like a regular tech startup, it is at its core a family business and it runs like a family business. Appointments are made arbitrarily. - Most senior leadership (with some notable exceptions, you can check their website and easily notice) is underqualified. Now, being underqualified does not necessarily make you a bad leader, but setting standards that you do not live by, refusing to receive or incorporate feedback, having knee-jerk reactions to adverse conditions, these do make for bad leaders - Valuable employees have often been seen as discardable during trying times. Yes, they are running a business and not a charity, but it goes back to the point of knee-jerk reactions when you fire people because you are concerned only about quarter profits, rather than long term growth - We struggle to attract and retain talent. While compensation is actually competitive, the recruiting practices are so below-average and unprofessional that really good candidates often summarily dismissed us. Then, those we get to hire (and we did hire some very good people) often left, got fired, or got couldn't simply stand the uncertainty constantly put in the air by leadership unsure about the direction of the company

Pros

Newer office, granola bars in the kitchen

Cons

This company is toxic and risky. If you aren't a Mormon bro, you will quickly find yourself not fitting in. Let's start with the culture. They have company prayers whenever there is food, and at the Christmas party, and other occasions. Be prepared to either participate in the prayer or awkwardly stand by until they are finished. This continued while I was there despite complaints to management that this made me feel uncomfortable. During this time, there were 3 women to the 40 or so guys working there, and as far as I could tell, at least 95% were Mormon (I know this because they talked about it constantly). Not exactly what I would call an equal opportunity employer. Secondly, this company is a convoluted family affair. The place is run by the son of the original founder, and most of the other members of the inner circle are either relatives or friends from church. Lots of infighting and nepotism to be observed. On leadership: top management mostly bullies and taunts employees, not very motivating or inspiring at all. It's like constantly being in a high school locker room with a terrible coach. Lastly, money management. This company has a history of serious layoffs. For Christmas, everyone was given an XBOX one or a $300 amazon giftcard, because it seemed like things were going well? Less than two months later, on a Monday, myself and about 7 others (maybe more) were told by our managers that we were being laid off, because they didn't have enough funds for our paychecks. 8 out of a company of 40 something people. Not only that, but the executives were all getting pay cuts. Here's the best part: I received not a cent of severance, just my final paycheck from the week before. Luckily I was able to collect unemployment and get back on my feet, but I was very close to becoming homeless and carless thanks to them. Apparently the company wasn't collecting money from clients, and there were "cash flow problems." Might I also mention that while I was there, I saw several people get periodically hired and then laid off because of overstaffing. Nobody's jobs or salaries are safe or guaranteed in this company, except for those at the very top. BTW, I know for a fact that the first few positive reviews here were written by managers within the company, if you couldn't already tell by how stupidly enthusiastic they sound.

Pros

I have worked at Marketware for 5 years. Over those years I have seen a tremendous amount of change and a complete turnaround into the best company I have ever had the privilege to work for. Starting my career off here when they had less than 10 employees to the 50+ they are at today has been amazing to be a part of. I highly recommend working at Marketware. I feel like I have a second family that is supportive and helpful. Sometimes it doesn’t even feel like “work”. I have highlighted a few key areas below that I feel deserve mentioning- 1. Leadership: Alex, Jacob, Carrie, Kelly & Adam are absolutely incredible leaders. They have a knack for turning a vision into reality. Leadership is transparent and collaborative. I respect all of their decisions as they continually focus on refining our Growth Suite offerings. Carrie especially has transformed Marketware into the robust tool that it is today with her vision on progress and improving our tools to best serve our clients’ needs. Previous leadership when I began was unstable, competitive, disorganized and secretive. I could never fully trust what they were saying and the message was never clear and consistent. I can honestly say with my whole heart it is a completely different environment and I could not be more happy with the necessary changes made. New leadership has been able to turn the sales process from “say and give whatever you need to make the sale so we can hit target numbers” which resulted in a lot of unhappy clients and cancellations to “let’s find the best opportunities with the right contacts who can truly benefit from what we have to offer” which has turned into some really rewarding use cases and wins. 2. Benefits & Compensation: Marketware offers outstanding benefits including health insurance, life insurance, PTO policies, a newly added Tuition Reimbursement for continuing education & more. They are continually looking for additional benefits to offer employees. There is always someone there to answer any questions you have on benefits and you never feel “lost” in options. This is something I never had coming from a very large national corporation at a previous company. Compensation is great as well, even within a small company there are opportunities to advance and move up. I personally have been promoted twice and have seen others move up as well. 3. Work Environment: Having the ability to work remotely has been fantastic. I am able to balance work and life easily and I never feel pressured to work longer hours on my own time just because my office is my home. I am still able to stay connected to every team member daily through multiple channels and never feel like I have been left behind or forgotten (even though I wish I could be a part of all of the pizza and ice cream and bbq parties in the office). I have opportunities to get facetime with clients and team members at conferences, on site visits, team meetings in SLC and more. There is some travel involved in certain departments and I appreciate every opportunity I have to see existing/new clients all across the US and collaborate with a plethora of teams in different stages of growth. It truly is an exciting time in Marketware and in healthcare. 4. Vision and Growth: One thing I love about Marketware is that they are constantly striving to be better. Continual development and enhancements occur on a consistent basis and they are always looking ahead and planning for the next goal or idea. I always feel that my ideas and suggestions are heard and taken into consideration, of which many have been developed and deployed I can say that I am truly excited to see where Marketware continues to grow over the next few years. With new leadership in place, new products being developed, better clients being targeted – the outlook is bright.

Cons

- Healthcare experience and knowledge is definitely necessary to be able to connect with and understand the clients needs. - Although it is growing it is still a small company which comes with its own nuances and learning experiences.
