Martin is a great place to learn because they service a wide variety of industries. They have a good profit sharing program and a relaxed work environment.

Cons

The company has some outdated policies that upper management is working to improve.

Pros

Friendly and helpful employees Can be an easy job Can take PTO whenever

Cons

Very stressful work environment. Had to go on blood pressure medication because of this. Underpaid with how many unrealistic tasks you're tasked with. Not enough employees for what they want to do. Can't hit delivery dates but always told it's our fault even though lead times are unrealistic. Management doesn't know what they are doing in AX ERP system and are unorganized. Plant supervisor doesn't do plant supervisor tasks and makes people do it for him. They don't listen to their employees. Management doesn't help employees with work but instead pushes more work on them. All old machines which can't compete in the 21st century. Machines and building need to be upgraded but management refuses to invest in the plant. Therefore we can't make profit goals.

Pros

A lot of good, long-term employees in middle management positions make the place tolerable. Good pay and benefits - for now - until profitability inevitably falls. Competitors to the company are apparently even more poorly managed than is Martin, allowing Martin to succeed in the marketplace.

Cons

The work environment at corporate is toxic, and spilling out to other locations. The new management "regime" does one thing, then says something else, and tries to run the company with smoke and mirrors. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain - we are the great and powerful Oz!" says the president of the company and his right-hand man, but both are empty shells with no core values or principles. Other execs there lead the parade and extol the greatness of the new leader to keep their jobs, but like the old Aesop's fable of the King's New Clothes, laugh at the new regime behind their backs. Personnel decisions are made based on who is a buddy of whom, not based on who is the best candidate for the position. Used to be a place of ethics and integrity - not any more. Employees are learning that now; soon the customers will catch on.
