Pros

Talented employees believed a dream and built an incredible product for the owners. Because of that product, the company attracts some of the smartest, most creative people you'll meet. And subsequently, those employees make more great products, that then attract more great people.

Cons

(The "Great Place to Work" review here was written by the owners.) This is a deeply bankrupt culture. Imagine if Donald Trump started a headphone company. All the self-importance, entitlement, bluster and the bullying. And yet, like the president, did so with no real talent or business intellect, only self-aggrandized hobnobbing. This is the experience of working at Master & Dynamic. As a matter of fact, the true talent is having an uncanny knack for driving the business into the ground. There is no vision to be heard of or true leadership. Only owners that insist on disrespecting everyone that works for them. There is no accountability for them either. No board, no investors, no advisors, meaning the horribly amateurish approach to running this business has no end in sight. It is quite literally a vanity project, and not uncommon to see people cry at work. Look at the attrition on LinkedIn. Reach out to anyone that has worked here in the past. Or even worse, reach out to their vendors. You’ll find a terrible business, irresponsibility run by it’s owners and financial leadership. You will not be safe or happy at Master & Dynamic because in the end the owners fundamentally lack integrity and respect for others. Day-in day-out, they are polishing the brass on the Titanic.

Pros

Great people are the asset of the company.

Cons

CEO has no people management skills and interacts and treats employees very poorly. Poor work life balance as expectation is commit work and personal time to job constantly with little to none flexibility or other benefits. Management is just looking for investors to be able to sell the company.

Masochism and Destruction

Pros

As everyone has already said: the people who make up the lower ranks are incredible. Here are a bunch of recent college graduates who are still naive enough to think they can make a nothing into a something, and some do amazing things before they become disillusioned and move on. Nowhere else can unseasoned staff have as much of an impact, and I had truly appreciated that during my time there.

Cons

Management, regardless of age, often acts similarly to the much younger staff and boundaries are nonexistent. 45 year old men giggle on Buzzfeed instead of working and team leaders suggest team sleepovers. This is the perfect environment for people who have missed out on campus life and are trying to recreate it, which is incredibly pathetic for adults in their 40's and 50's. This is not a "start-up." This is a traditional line of business approached from a luxury angle. Inexperienced employees, lax alcohol policies, and bad hours do not make this a start-up. There is no disrupting and no extreme growth. It's an innovative audio business quickly losing innovation status.
