The department I worked in had a toxic manager who played favorites.
Her favorites were literally referred to as the golden children.
Her favoritism was so blatant even employees in other departments would comment on it.
If you were not one of her favorites, and fell out of the managers good graces, you would be punished. You would be watched like a hawk, and every decision you made would be under constant scrutiny until they felt you had been punished thoroughly for whatever you did to upset her.
Manager also seriously micro managed trivial things while failing to correct and manage important departmental tasks/situations.
An example of this would be that she would decide there were “too many” pens at the front desk, take all the pens, and then give them away to others in the department.
Would also ask that you sign your name on a list if you took a ream of paper from the supply.
One of the leads in the department is unqualified for her job, and is not a good role model for the department. Uses a buzzer when new employees are in training to let the entire department know they got an answer wrong. Also does not know how to properly de-escalate sitauations involving upset customers. Emails and phone conversations to/with customers are extremely unprofessional, lacking basic punctuation and grammar usage.

Always seems to be running to “catch up”’ to the competition in regards to product, features, and improvements. No innovation. Not as technically savvy as a company of their size should be.
When I left the company, they seemed to have a financial mismanagement problem prior causing them to cut things like the holiday party, overtime, increase health care costs paid by employees, and cut 7-10 positions, and demote or combine certain positions to reduce cost of paying higher wages.
