Not Good - Preparing for an Exit

Pros

Lots of flexibility. Pretty easy work most of the time. Good people, but most of the good ones are leaving. Seems like 20% of the really good people do most of the real work. Those 20% are great to wok with. Plenty of vacation time Life/Work balance is great. Management took special consideration in given bonuses early in the past year. Offices were pretty nice but no longer a benefit since most are remote now.

Cons

It’s basically a company of leftover software that was not wanted after last buyout of Healthgrades.com. Most of the development is being done offshore by less than optimal talent with high turnover. Salaries are not keeping pace with the industry. So that pushes even more offshore development as people leave and are not replaced. Not replacing people is a very common theme. Because of being short staffed, there are plenty of people who do very little work and aren’t very dependable. But they hang around forever because even severe under performers are still needed. Insurance is crazy expensive - over $900 per month for family coverage and it’s not great. Upper management will interview and hire subpar talent and just throw them on your team because they are cheap. Everything is about low cost. Pretty sure we will be bought by another company for cheap very soon and will experience another purge. Warning to potential new hires. It’s been downhill every since Javon became CEO. Not sure if it’s his management or not, but nothing has improved since he has taken over. Every town hall meeting seems like management trying to convince employees how much progress is being made, but we can’t replace people who leave, and entire projects are just abandoned as people leave sometimes. As things seemingly fall a part in some areas, he rarely mentions failed projects and sugar coats things. Seems like some higher up manager sends their “farewell” email once per week. It really feels like they are just holding on until the next buyout.

Pros

Data science and analytics team was strong and delivered value. Good data set collected over 30 years.

Cons

Change in direction due to multiple acquisitions. No company culture, people work until they burnout. Employee churn so rampant, with no acknowledgement from new leadership.Work life balance does not exist. No recognition. Silos and slow process.

Don't do it

Pros

Data analytics and data science are innovative.

Cons

Absolutely terrible management and high turnover. You make a little mistake, management will throw you under the bus and will constantly bring it up to you. Lots of holes in overall processes and lack of training - but rather than fixing a process or offering training, management resorts to pointing fingers. You think with all the turnover leaders would take a hint.
