Shiny on the outside - rotten on the inside

Pros

Aside from a few decent managers who have somehow put up with the self-absorbed idiot of an MD, I can't think of a single positive thing to say about this company.

Cons

In exchange for a below average pay cheque, Mick more or less considers you his personal property to treat how ever he pleases, which more often then not, involves public humiliation, shouting, swearing and just generally pre-historic methods of management. If you're ill and can't come in to work, a phone call must be made to Mick personally so he can make you feel even worse than you already do by taunting and questioning the legitimacy of the call. Very successful company but most of the senior management haven't got a clue how to say 'thanks' or 'good job', instead you are expected to work at a level that affects your physical and mental health. There's a FREE in-house lunch service (how generous) which conveniently prevents the need to leave your desk all day, eating lunch is an incredibly fun challenge because the phone doesn't stop ringing, so a 30 min break in reality is closer to 5 minutes. There's a reason they're always hiring and have 20 new starters each week.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

The worst company to work for

Pros

Really easy to get a job there as they will literally hire anyone. Plenty of vacancies because everyone leaves or gets sacked.

Cons

Staff treated like rubbish, no job security - loads of people sacked all the time, expected to work way past usual hours as standard, no sick pay, holiday takes weeks to get approved and often denied for no real reason, antiquated method of management, does not value staff, MD is a bully, generally awful company to work for.

Pros

Apart from the money I can't think of any really!

Cons

When Mick returns from one of his lavish holidays everyone is on egg shells as he rolls around like the high Sheriff firing both barrels at anyone that catches his eye. A very petty man indeed! I understand he is a big player and has a reputation to uphold but a bit of respect and compassion wouldn't go a miss! Getting time off is near on impossible! Even if requested months in advance. And having to book Saturdays and bank holidays off is a joke. If your not a yes person than this isn't the job for you. Transport department seriously lack the social skills and road knowledge to even take charge of a tonga toy car park. If it's close on a map then it's only a 5 minute drive to them! Permanently put under pressure and pushed to go the extra mile when no leeway is given in return! Only to be spoken to like something on the bottom of a hob nail boot!
