Pros

A job that pays you. A title that is well known. A company that is well known too. Great kitchen area. Met some really nice people while working here.

Cons

Terrible Micromanagement. One of the senior folks is a complete bully and does not trust in the artist's abilities at all. As a result everything is strictly monitored like in a criminal jail cell. No artistic freedom at all. Lighting decisions are very poor as it ultimately comes down to poor art direction with regard to lighting. In short the lighting art never looked so bad in any game I have worked on. Extreme crunch, 6-9 months in a year is spent crunching. Contract employees get treated differently and badly. Once you are a project term employee you are salaried and not paid by the hour. Which means you won't get any overtime if you work extra hours, also under the project term position you will not be eligible for any company bonus as well. Stay clear of this place. I am an experienced lighter with years of experience but I have never worked in a worst atmosphere.

Pros

The upper third-floor of the building is completely leased by Monolith. It's very clean and well taken care of as it was recently re-modeled. The kitchen is fully stocked and if you work over-time they pay for diners. Overall the people are a mixed bag from extremely introverted to very out-going and friendly. Most of the fun studio activities are lead by the employees such as card and board-game tournaments as well as two soccer teams that participate in a gaming league where other local game studios also compete. I would say that the studio is what you make of it...if you want to make friends be friendly! As a contractor you can make a solid hourly wage however you need to see if that makes it worth your time. *See Cons

Cons

As a contractor most staff employees look at you like a disease. As a contractor you will not have sick days, the benefits offered are over priced and the only holidays you'll be paid for are Christmas and New Years day. Also the studio has some strange WB policy where they can't technically give you any free swag however they do "unofficially" through your third party recruiter which will be either "Yoh" or "Volt". That being said there's sadly an invisible line drawn between the staffers and the contractors. Most of the staffers have been with the studio from the beginning and unless they die you'll never step into a supervising role...even in death there's no certainty as they resurrect their dead and keep them on as staff. Those who have faithfully served in both life and death do so out of necessity and not always out of skill or experience.
