Good place to work

Pros

Good work atmosphere (usually) with smart and likeminded people. Good treatment of staff in the good years. These perks seem to disappear when the fund is underperforming. Free gym, breakfast and lunch. Good offices, well located in London - Green Park. Salary OK. Bonus Good

Cons

Very flat hierarchical structure makes promotions non-existent. Also a very strange power structure. The firm is New York based all key senior managemnent personnel are located in the NY office thus all decisions have to go through the US which has a huge restriction to autonomy. Top management are all very stuck in certain ways of working and as such the firm is very slow to adapt to changes Bacon and a few of the other senior management team have an almost god like/do not cross status. Again stifling a lot of good change that could happen at the firm.

Pros

Amenities etc: Free lunch ($13min) corporate seamless/ fully stocked pantry with cereal, yogurt, juices and soft drinks/ Starbucks coffee & awesome espresso machine/ Nice gym/yoga & pilates studio / eucalyptus towels / fitness classes In the summer they hold a speaker series for interns IR/ bus dev / PMs / COO etc People are really friendly so don't hesitate to reach out to those outside of your team. Chance of getting an offer are high if you add value and can point to inefficiencies (many) /correct & change.

Cons

Outdated / old systems & software Old-school aversion to technological change/ innovation. For example, the adaptation rate of new native software apps and tools are extremely slow or non-existent, which ends up bloating the workload and productivity of the tech & data teams. For some reason Interns 21/ovr aren't invited to the holiday party. Just kind of disappointing since it's so highly buzzed about and anticipated throughout the trading floor /company. CEO is an enigma has a strange looming God-like fearing presence. When we moved to the new building he has the only non-transparent glass office. I guess this isn't totally a con it's just bizarre and very awkward if you run into him in the elevator bank.
