Pros
You get $5 off per day at the cafe in the basement of the building. Lunches are typically under $2 after the discount. The office layout, desks, technology, etc. are above-average. The pay is competitive, though it's the only benefit/compensation the company has that isn't below-average.
Cons
In the last 6 months, at least two employees have been fired for comments about the toxic culture, and at least three employees have left on their own terms because of the toxic culture. Nepotism. All of the highest positions in the company belong to people in the Napleton family, whether by blood or through marriage. The remaining executive positions belong to family friends. A majority of these employees would not be qualified for their positions if the company ever went public. Management is expected to suck up to upper management, work weekends and weeknights, and say "yes" to everything. You are not allowed to challenge authority. The benefits might be the worst of any job you'll ever have. No 401(k) match. Mediocre medical benefits. ZERO paid time off (PTO) for the first year of employment... and only one year of PTO for your second year of employment. Only six paid holidays (the main federal ones). No flexibility to work from home or arrive late/leave early. Micromanagement. You are expected to show up before 8:30 and stay after 5:00. Showing up at 8:30 and leaving at 5:00 is frowned upon, even though that's the time you're paid for. When you leave and come back for lunch is recorded by the office manager. She also makes note of your bathroom breaks, phone calls, smoke breaks, etc. No internal communication system because messages aren't visible to upper management. You're required to document everything you do every day and every week. The company grows by spending more money on acquiring dealerships. This company doesn't grow by having good processes, procedures, ideas, etc. In fact, many of the dealerships became less profitable/efficient after the acquisitions. And, to make things worse, you're constantly reminded by management that working at Napleton is a privilege and we should all be thankful that we have jobs. They never address issues... they just tell us that we are free to leave if we don't agree with them. Give the "Napleton" name a quick Google news search to learn more.
