Routing assistance needed for this misguided startup...
Pros
There were snacks, and a total of 5 people I genuinely enjoyed working with. The pay was OK for the work I was doing.
Cons
About 20-25% of the team was laid off. The company seems to be struggling for funding. The team morale is at a severe low, and I don't see this ship staying afloat much longer. But hey, they gave Navdy away on a daytime talk show, hooray! Upper management seemingly hasn't done this sort of work at scale before. I genuinely believe that the team running the company is one of the most inexperienced in running a successful business I have ever dealt with in 6 years in Sillicon Valley tech. In my opinion, the team running the business likes to lie to themselves and employees about what success looks like, letting failing ideas go on for far too long, and writing them off as "tests". Or testing something for months, and then are getting a result, saying the test results were wrong when they don't suit the thoughts of the CEO. Upper management does not seem to care about employees or customers similarly. This upper echelon of the company is dead set on doing what they think is best, with or without the feedback from their users, or their employees. Additionally, the Navdy hardware is big, bulky, and honestly runs on one of the worst routing solutions available. Your phone can get you to a location quicker and without incident 9 times out of 10. If Google Maps or Waze want nothing to do with Navdy, you should steer clear and avoid a career pothole there as well!
