The Truth about Navitar

Pros

The people on the work floor becomes more than your friends but family.

Cons

This is not a good place to work if you are looking for a better job either financially or productively. The production manager isn't personable and creates a work environment that is toxic and make you feel less than your worth. There wasn't room for growth, they made you feel belittled when asking a question or trying to suggest how to make things work better. They went down hill and only care about how much product can be made and not how the work's feel. This is a place you don't want to work for.

Pros

As an Engineer you are exposed to every part of the process - ideation, design, drawings, building, & testing. As a first job or initial exposure to optics it can be nice. If you're willing to put up with a bunch of garbage and get in with the right people you can make decent money. They have access to some industry-standard equipment that can be added to the resume once you learn them. Most of the people that you work with are just trying to do their best and most of them are personable both in and outside work. You can really build an effective team when you're allowed to.

Cons

Mechanical Engineering - boilerplate designs, manager will do most of the fun work and leave the boring stuff for subordinates to do, no real opportunity for growth or challenge. Production - the production manager is the meanest and least personable person I've ever known. They make it miserable to be there and get annoyed or angry when you ask questions or "underperform." General - just the general this-is-what-we've-always-done vibe. The creepy guys on the production team - always cringey to see them interact with the new ladies Navitar would hire on Production. If you're not a straight white guy don't expect them to springboard you into new and exciting career opportunities.

Pros

This company is a great place in terms of personal relationships, benefits, and an overall good company culture.

Cons

You have little to no room to grow, raises are only 3% max, unless management likes you. The management doesn't listen to their employees. They are stuck in the mindset that because it worked in the 90s this way it should still be that way. If you are outspoken and have loud ideas this is not the place for you.
