Pros

They have a knack for hiring great people in support roles.

Cons

Concisely: significantly lower pay (talking at least $15k under industry standard), mediocre product sold on “workarounds”, lack of employee support, little to no diversity, overworked, understaffed. Unable to receive criticism and take ownership of their failings (“we’re sorry you feel that way. Here are three other people who vehemently disagree with your grievances, here’s a coloring book”). Losing great talent left and right because there’s no career pathing, a ton of favoritism (*Stack Sports transplants*), and a refusal to promote from within, particularly if you’re black or POC. HR: this is not an invitation for you to cite the company’s diversity efforts. The all-white leadership says it all. Recruiting black and POC workers into burnout-prone entry level positions is definitely not it. The flurry of job openings is not an indication of growth, it’s mostly backfill for people who finally had enough and left. Look up Stack Sports reviews on here and you’ll get an idea of where this company is headed. Stack Sports is backed by the same family of VCs/investors that support Neon (Jerry Jones, star innovation partners, providence capital).

Pros

Unlimited PTO, Snacks ???, hard to think of anything else

Cons

Neon One masquerades as a company that cares, when in reality, they do as much as possible to squeeze every last dime out of the non-profits they "serve." Everyone on the team is overworked and underpaid (the classic tech tale), and desperate for additional resources. The leadership team claims that the company is a "family", but when team members are in crisis, the monetary impact is the primary concern rather than the employee's well being. Leadership does not trust the expertise of the core workers and will interfere to the point of extreme detriment, yet when they are needed the most they are completely unreachable. This company is not diverse. Neon One is primarily comprised of upper middle class white people who are unbelievably out of touch with their non-profit clients. If you do not make this job your entire life or identity, then most of your coworkers will look down their nose at you.

Neon is no longer about the employees or clients.

Pros

Uplifting coworkers, who encourage you even when upper management does not. Our clients and their non-profit organizations, who continue to try and do good in this world.

Cons

Upper management. Since we have been bought out, our company is no longer about the clients we love to serve. Instead, we are all about numbers and money. We have become a robotic organization with unfair pay, unreasonable cutbacks, and immense amounts of work. A single employee does the job of three, yet makes below industry average. The cutbacks have resulted in unnecessary layoffs and inadequate building accommodations. We are just now setting up our alarm system after being in our new building for 6 months. These shortcomings have caused confusion and anger with employees toward their managers/ supervisors and the HR department. Because upper management is making all decisions based on saving pennies and NOT for the greater good of the company, other managers and HR have had to deal with the overwhelming disappointment and negative feedback from employees. Most importantly, the added stress and lack of resources affect our non-profit clients. We are unable to serve them like we used to. We can no longer “make good happen” as we once did.
