A company that appears to be on a higher moral ground, that is actually on shaky ground. Avoid this one like the plague.
Picture, if you will, all those dinosaurs who wandered into the La Brea Tar Pits unsuspectingly, seeking nourishment…then couldn’t get out of a toxic environment to save themselves. That’s the history you’d be repeating if you took a job here.
The brand purports to want to improve lives, yet the lives of the people who work there are steeped in poverty and managed by fear in a small economically depressed town in Southern Vermont. It’s a caste society within the walls, trying to pretend that it’s not. There are benefits that are mostly placating, like “free snacks” and a $100 wellness benefit. Bigger, more critical benefits are weak and costly. (One year we were told that our health care costs were increasing because “people keep having babies”. A bit hard to swallow when you watch the company leaders hop into a Tesla or a Lexus to head home to their families.)
The spirit of the company comes from its leaders, and the current CEO & figureheads are arrogant and mean-spirited underneath a superficially pleasant layer. That same spirit is rampant in the company.
I thank my lucky stars every day now that I’ve shaken loose of a highly dysfunctional, top-heavy environment! Seek the truth—and a great company—elsewhere.
Stay out of this tar pit and avoid this sinking dinosaur!
