Pros

The people in the department are great! Manager and supervisor are cool. The atmosphere in the office is very nice and easy going. NYRA holiday parties are pretty cool.

Cons

Upper management loves to blame this department anytime anything goes wrong. This department also does other departments jobs like I.T. but aren’t offered higher pay. The company completely ignores the departments needs. There is no room for advancement except to become a "Team Leader", but they only get paid $2 more for TRIPLE the work. This department was told they'd receive the option to be full-time, that is false. No benefits. Fast food employees make more money than a Guest Service Rep at NYRA.

Thank you for your response. We’re happy you enjoy your colleagues and that’s it’s a good atmosphere in your department. And yes, we DO have a great holiday party, capped by the video of the burning yule log on the infield scoreboard. But we’re distressed at your perception of management and the assessment of blame: We have a saying here that we’re “The Hosts of the House,” which at its core means treating guests right, as if they're visiting our home. Our guests are foremost in our minds at all times—as are the people, like you, who are charged with serving them. If you have ideas about how to improve this area and what we can do to make it better for you, talk to your manager. Management IS listening.

Pros

The people and environment are great, friendly, when the manager isn't being manipulative trying to create a divide between everyone.

Cons

Petty manager that lacks ACTUAL management skills. Required to do way more than the job description implies, if you express having an issue with this manager will hand you a employee handbook and tell to find another job. There is no room for growth or pay raise./No benefits, time off, or vacation Rules change at the managers convenience.

We appreciate your comments. Understand that you have options in challenging situations, including going to your HR Lead for advice. Also, we would counter that part-time employees have room for growth—it can be a path to full-time positions, which are posted on icims—as well as access to a benefits package that includes a 401k program. As for your advice to management, it’s policy that we address all concerns about the performance of managers when we hear about them. We encourage you to explore all the options designed to build your career at NYRA.
