Bad pay for what you do.

Pros

- Helping the kids - Good part time job if you're studying

Cons

- Bad management - As a tutor you get totally ripped off - you have to manage 4 kids per hour, give them all an insane amount of attention (which isn't possible since some kids with learning disabilities require more attention than others) and then when you try to finish up in the way you're supposed to (writing detailed feedback in all of the kids books) the managers get mad at you for staying back to do it because they don't want to pay you. I never wanted the extra pay, I just wanted to do my job since there wasn't enough time to do it in the allocated hour.

Earn pennies for your precious hours

Pros

Easy first job to get into when you have zero working experience.

Cons

Abysmal pay, around $7 an hour LESS than other nearby and comparable tutoring centres, not to mention private tutoring. You will be paid next to minimum wage. Can be stuck with weird shift times, 1 hour work days where you can earn net $10 for your hard work after subtracting bus fares No flexibility in how you teach, everything is just a cookie cutter computer program. If you want to actually "tutor", this isn't the place for you. More like glorified childcare. Management does not care how your students are behaving, unless they are making noise to a point where it bothers the manager. Anything else is ignored. You will need to put up with student behaviour on your own. Good luck.

Pros

Fun, casual, great skill development for comms and understanding bosses

Cons

Unpaid planning time, can be hard to balance all the kids
