Pros
Trouw Nutrition USA is a Ruminant (Cow) Feed, Companion Animals (Pet Food) and Micronurients Feed (animal feed nutritional additives and boosters) company that is owned by the Nutreco parent company in the Netherlands. From the website, “Our advanced nutritional solutions are at the origin of food for millions of pets and consumers worldwide. We provide innovative specialty products, premixes and services for the companion animal and livestock industries. We translate world-class research into practical, innovative solutions. Operating in over 90 countries across all five continents, we probably have more resource available than any other company in our industry to support our customers wherever they are in the world, whatever their requirements.” Management for the USA Divisions is good. Their overall core values and culture is stated and followed with several updates surveys and opportunities for feedback from all employees. In my experience, with only a few exception, the management there is accountable, responsive and relatively passionate about the companies goals and helping you achieve your goals / projects. Their culture is really making an effort to be more inclusive although it can be tough in some of the rural locations that they are located. I have noticed their efforts to hire more inclusive and diverse employees in recent years. I have an excellent manager. Actually, one of the best managers I have ever had. They really care about me as a person and make efforts to train, promote and take my career to the next level. I was promoted once since I started a few years ago and hope to have that happen again. My manager supports his team and protects them from any negativity from other departments, which is essential in a sustainable work environment.
Cons
The hardest part of the job would be navigating the directions and plans that come from the Nutreco / Netherlands management and project offices. Many times, there are not good lead times or realistic project plans coming from the Netherlands so major projects can be dropped in your teams lap with little notice. The good news is that the US Management is adept at navigating these challenges and setting expectations correctly for their teams.
Pros
Good benefits, nice people to work with.
Cons
Too many changes in management, you don’t really know your role, lack of structure.
Pros
Professional organization and, Management Board and HR team
Cons
Could do better on sustainability
Pros
Depending on your manager you can strike a good balance between work life and your personal life. For the most part, fellow employees are decent and friendly folk. Very generous benefits and group pension plans.
Cons
Salaries are pretty average. It's hit and miss with middle management. You could luck out and get a decent boss. Unfortunately there quite a few spineless managers (Canadian offices). Upper management doesn't have a clue on what's going on below them. None of the money saving initiatives apply to them, for example. They expect to be treated like kings and queens. HR is never there for the regular employees. Don't ever expect them to stick up for your rights or disagree with your manager on anything.
