Pros

CEO is a great man and I respect him, along with the Tyvek Sales mgr and Sales Manager in Sacramento. They are the only reason I give any credit to this company at all.

Cons

Had my compensation package changed three times in an 8 month span with each change taking more and more commission out of our pockets and into managements hands, as managers get a kick back for cutting costs. They make you front all company related business expenses and only reimburse 70% of the federal rate for mileage. Too many middle managers looking for ways to cut costs than how to support the individuals that are promoting the company for them. The lumberhead approach will be eventually what strips them of one of the largest national brands in the construction industry.

Pros

Well known name in the building materials distribution industry... but that could be a bad thing also.

Cons

Constantly changing management. If your a crappy manager, they will just shuffle you around to new fancy named positions. If your friends with the Hart's, you will go far, if not, good luck! Everyone else is expendable. Constantly changing compensation packages to suite the profitability of the company and benefit of the management. Management makes incentive pay for cutting costs on the sales team, and that also includes salaries. Management is full of a bunch of "YES MEN" no spine to fight for what is right for the employees. There is soo much management now that one wonders if this is a government agency now rather than a private organization. Micro-management is out of control.

Pros

If you are a self centered narcissist, and enjoy bullying those who don’t fit their standard - this is the place for you.

Cons

I would give this company a negative star if I could - As family-friendly as the owner proclaims his company is - those who run the finance and accounting department set their employees up for failure on day 1. Of course, it is family-friendly if you are related to the owners where all their perks are in plain sight. “Company” car”. “Company” airplane. “Company” vacations. There is an atmosphere where differences and individuality are looked down on. A team atmosphere does not exist, rather if one tries to step forward and bring the team together or socialize, it is seen as a threat to management. Forget having a bad day or going through family or medical issues while employed here. There is no compassion, understanding, or willingness to support an employee or coworker. The only folks that will find success in this company are bullies and self-centered narcissists. If that is you - feel free to apply. All others - avoid this company like the plague. It is so bad, I will no longer purchase many wood products at Home Depot that is produced or supplied by this company.
