Pros

You get to work with talented clients in lifestyle and entertainment. It's a very small company so you might stand to gain great experience and responsibilities than at most entry-level jobs. Pay is pretty good too.

Cons

The boss is rude, condescending, impatient and abusive. She does not care about her employees at all, has zero empathy, and micromanages everything. She is very temperamental and you never know what you're going to get from her. She has a revolving door of assistants because of her awful and erratic behavior. Stay away!

We care about everyone who works at the company and even follow up with former employees and consultants, at future times just to see how they are doing. We want everyone to excel. We are genuinely sorry that this person felt so unhappy. It was never our intention. We have adapted since this review was posted, and also felt it important to say that it is unfortunate that any former employee would choose to say such awful and hurtful personal opinions about another person, and seek to do so through the words on this page in this forum. We are happy to take this conversation offline and talk to this reviewer and do sincerely hope that this person did eventually find a home in a career that they could excel in and be successful. We also understand that the days of staying at one company for an entire career is unusual and that many first and second positions on someone's career ladder are steppingstones and springboards. In 20 years of being in business, we have lots of people who have taken what they have learned here and applied it to be incredibly successful. It is when they get to their next position when they realized how much they learned and how much it benefited them at their next company. We also hope that any candidate moving forward would be confident enough to apply for a position and give us a chance, and address any reviews or concerns this person may have, in the interview process to make their own decision. We are happy to always answer any questions about any of the reviews, at any time. and hope that we are asked.

Pros

Decent pay for entry level job.

Cons

Where to begin...? This was the most insane and unprofessional experience I’ve ever witnessed first hand. I moved to Los Angeles, looking for a PR job and was hired at PRStudio on the spot. Boss seemed a little eccentric, but I had worked in fashion PR in NYC previously, so this wasn’t much of a shock for me. I went home to tell my roommate that I landed the job, and she was super excited for me until I told her who I was working for (she also works in PR). Then she proceeded to tell me how she was hired then fired then hired again by this person - before she even started. Immediately I was regretting this decision, but I had a job and forced myself to give it a chance - BIG MISTAKE. The first day, I was given a binder to read for “training” which gave little information with NO guidance or examples of how to apply the training to the job. Then the owner leaves! She was gone for 2-3 days! On my FIRST week. I was sitting at the desk for 8 hours with absolutely no direction. What made this worse was that she called me multiple times throughout the day to SCREAM at me through the phone and ask why I wasn’t getting anything done. If I asked her a question, she would bark through the phone “IT’S IN THE BOOK!” (After assuring me that she would be around to answer any questions). She was so disrespectful and abusive, I couldn’t believe it. I spent one day at lunch in the bathroom just sobbing into the phone to my mom - and I am not the kind of person that does that. Throughout the days I would literally be shaking at my desk because of how scared I was if this woman. Here’s where it gets REALLY nuts. Eventually I had had enough. She called me a couple of hours after getting into the office one day - barking like a maniac through the phone. I believe I hung up on her lol. I called my mom and told her I couldn’t do it anymore and asked her what I should do...so I left my work keys and my company issued phone on my desk. And I left! In the middle of the day. Buh-bye! Now, I am not one to do that! I always give companies at least a month notice when I leave a position, but I could not take it anymore. I felt like this job and that boss was really taking a toll on my mental health. She was more than difficult and demanding, she was totally abusive. Then the calls, to my personal phone started rolling in about an hour after I walked out... She called and texted me DOZENS of times. Attacking my character, my work ethic, how I was raised, attacked the company that my roommate worked for, left me borderline threatening voicemails. Then would insist on paying me my final check. It was CRAZY. She probably texted and called me 50 times within an 2-3 hour period. I eventually told her she needed to contact me through email and I blocked her. I did eventually get paid! But if given the opportunity again, I would not work for this woman for 100k salary. Point blank. Oh I should mention she was fired by two clients while I was there. Anyway! STAY FAR AWAY. Not worth it.

One person runs company and doesn't care for new employees. No training whatsoever. Owner yells and treats employees unfairly.

There is indeed one founder, who "runs" the company, however there are many who "operate it" at any given time. Depending on where the new hire gets assigned, the interraction and direct report may differ. There is more than one person. Regarding training, our firm like other boutique agencies, prefer on-the-job training as the best way to learn the ropes. We know there is limited experience during their college years and what experience they do have we are excited for them to apply to their growth. The employees who do that, soar at the firm and in their career, learning quickly on the job, and benefit from not having to wait 4 years or longer for a promotion. The employees get to do exciting, front line strategy and projects from the day they are hired, and as a result are responsible for ownership of those projects as well. They get to put what college eduation and internships they have to good use. That said, the career choice, can sometimes be all consuming. We try to explain that to candidates from day one. We are very sorry this employee desired more out of the company than it offered, and that it was a less than happy experience. We absolutely DO care very much about every single person who comes through the doors. It breaks the founder's heart to have to terminate an employee, or when someone resigns. Sometimes it isn't a fit, and we hope that you find the position and the company that best suits your needs.
