Worst place I have ever worked

Pros

The only pro I had while working there was that they let us wear jeans. Also, just for the record - when I used to work there, they sent out email blasts to the whole company and asked everyone to leave reviews, so please take this high rating and all these amazing reviews with a grain of salt.

Cons

Extremely unprofessional - everyone, including managers, curse all the time. Sexual harassment is allowed - there was literally no punishment when I experienced it. Drama occurs everyday, once again also including management. Favoritism was the worst I have ever experienced at any job. If you are a male that went to PND - you get everything handed to you on a silver platter. HR is absolutely pathetic - I went to them with concerns and was not only blamed for my concerns, but there was nothing done about some very serious accusations. The salary is LOW and the benefits are nothing to call home about.

Pros

Peoria Heights is a great work location, and there are several great restaurants, parks, and trails in the area. There are many talented, dedicated people working at this business.

Cons

Processes change frequently. I’m talking major process changes with very little training or team-wide discussion beforehand. Promises don’t mean much. A manager might give you the impression you’re working toward a promotion. Or, they’ll say your new skills and unofficial job responsibilities will translate to something more down the road. These elusive opportunities have a way of disappearing. They tell you they have a “plan” for you. The phrase “professional development” is thrown around a lot here. “Professional development” at this business translates to: “We’ll put some goals on a piece of paper and have you sign it, but we won’t hold you accountable for completing these goals when your next review rolls around.” Speaking of reviews, managers might make statements on your review that they’ve never expressed through email or person-to-person interaction. Employees should be given year-round opportunities to improve. Instead, they generally have to wait for their annual review to receive feedback from their supervisors. Some employees spend hours gossiping and goofing off but still receive great opportunities. They don’t face repercussions. If someone high up the ladder likes you, you’re set, so that could be a positive depending on who you are. If you bring up the issues listed above, you’re told you should wait for things to get better. And that you should have faith in the company. Adding to all this, the building is outdated and dirty in many areas.

Not worth it

Pros

A find the influx of 5 star raving reviews in the last couple months suspicious. Pearl does have good values and many good and talented people are employed there. There are some very good managers whose departments are run much more effectively than others.

Cons

I worked here for a couple of years and progressively saw things continue to go downhill. Lots and lots of drama, from employees on the floor all the way up to management level. I expected more leadership and professionalism from the management at Pearl. Employee culture is also problematic - Favoritism, gossip and bad-mouthing are prevalent. It is not always a positive, supportive working environment. The building is very dated. Although the company is successful, it does not feel that way on the inside. The benefit package is not competitive compared to other companies I've worked for.
