Pros

There are some really lovely people who work there.

Cons

Team manager has the worst attitude which should be sorted. Feels like although they need people doing the job they are not happy about it and will always give you a hard time. Did not receive adequate training. When leaving I had 2 weeks to train the new person in the systems. That person only after 2 weeks had to then train the other person joining. Seriously bad management skills there. Mistakes they make will be blamed on you or they cry about it so they are forgotten. Mistakes you make will be treated like you have just lost the company clients even though your team manager makes worse mistakes. Both new and old staff doing this role have all said the same thing about the team manager having an attitude towards them in the job. Had a new person asked to spy on everything I was doing. That new person advised me of this straight away as they did not like this. Made out this particular new person booked a holiday during the time I had already booked off. Spoke to the person about it and saw that was not true. I can only guess this was to cause tension between us and this wasn't the only occasion this happened. This also happened with other members of staff in the team. They were caught out bad mouthing a more senior member of staff in the Kitchen by that particular individual.

Pros

The culture of the firm is genuinely nice. People are very friendly and supportive and it seems people are hired on the basis that they fit this mould. Generally nice clients and the work/life balance beats much of the rest of the City. David Raine (CEO) seems to really care about his people and there are frequent 'thank yous' from the management team, especially during lockdown.

Cons

Lower salary than other City firms but this is reflected in the better hours. Could be more mixing between teams and floors in the London office but management is clearly trying to rectify this so the position should hopefully improve as time goes on. More diversity is definitely needed - the overwhelming majority of senior staff in my (large) team are male and pale, sadly.
