Hi, First, thank you for your post and sorry to hear that you had a negative experience during your time at Perx. As a startup, Perx is not immune to the ups and downs of the startup experience. That being said, we do listen to employee feedback and act on it in a timely fashion as best we can. As there is no actionable feedback in your post, I’ll write about a few of the significant changes over the recent quarter: The technical team has grown to 25 people. We have a dedicated HR team now which is implementing a rigorous process for employee well being. We have also landed a number of large MNCs in the portfolio. The momentum is in full swing and we continue to review our internal and external processes to optimize the experience for everyone who interacts with the company. On the technical side, we are building a new product based on micro services incorporating kubernetes on the backend, kafka, big query and metabase for BI and a new initiative is underway incorporating machine learning. Interesting technologies applied to an interesting business case. Last, but not least, having benefited substantially from open source software over the years, we are currently incubating a project that we will release to the community. Details released soon. Lastly, we wish you all the best in your career. Rob

Pros

People are generally nice and polite.

Cons

No changes. Even the CTO has left. I think he only last 3 months. The person despised the most is still here. At least his sales team has changed. I will not get more into it but all the review here are true. Save yourself the pain and trouble and run away if anyone at Perx tries to hire you. It is toxic.

I regret joining Perx

Pros

I joined perx with great hopes and dreams and highly regret my decision now.

Cons

Each and every department is dysfunctional with no intent to improve. The financial situation is horrible and employees salary was cut from April 2020, with some departments getting as high as 60% salary cuts and some only 20 (depends on how well your boss negotiates). There’s a huge disparity amongst employee salaries as well. Now for September, I am still waiting for my money. If you want to work , you would get tons of work but no money and no freedom. Though working at perx is not easy at all. They say that challenging the status quo is a value - but if you do so, you are called ‘not a team player’. The platform is highly unstable and breaks down every now and then. Product has no roadmap as the company is a dev shop. It’s a lie shop. They don’t have money for this month salary and are planning aggressive OKRs for 3 years. Sales head keep saying the logos are coming but no result. CEO is the only one who is doing some sales but she is surrounded by incapable people. CTO is nothing more than a joke. I don’t know why product team exists. Support just acts like a messenger.

Dear colleague, Perx is always grateful for constructive feedback that we learn from and become a better organisation inside and out. Key parts of your submission are however are factually untrue. Perx, like many organisations (start up, scale up and established alike) needed to take necessary measures at the onset of Covid to secure longevity for the company. We are of course sorry that this has impacted you as an individual however all have been affected equally and there is no favouritism in practice. We have been extremely transparent of the challenges faced and have laid out clear plans on returning to previous levels as the situation normalises. Perx are by no means alone in the struggle, we did however act sooner rather than later to avoid further retrenchment. Every department has faced its own challenges during this period. Perx is pioneering a new product category in Lifestyle Marketing which at the best of times comes with extended sales cycles which are compounded by the nature of Enterprise Sales as well as elongated procurement budget cycles. As we exit the initial downturn and customers are adjusting, new logos are coming aboard faster than before. It is true we have held a very optimistic view of onboarding however this is based on direct interaction with customer business needs that have been supercharged by Covid. Digital transformation is no longer a luxury but the requirement and engagement and lifestyle applicability is core to Perx like no other. We have been hampered by a sales team in its infancy which I am proud to say is both significantly contributing, growing to support the demand that is in the market and leading a world class platform for the company. Each and everyday we encounter new businesses crying out for change and the revenue team alongside marketing, product and engineering champion Perx to deliver as fast as possible. In any start up environment it is imperative that teams and individuals work together. No deal is won or lost alone which is why as organisation we value all opinions and have an open door policy from CEO throughout the organisation. Should you wish to discuss matters of sales, product, engineering, marketing or support either in open forum or 1:1 all BU leads are happy to do so rather than presenting a distorted view of a growing company which like any other has faced unprecedented challenges over the last several months.
