Pros

When I was there, the team was fantastic and supportive but so many of those amazing employees were driven out or let go.

Cons

The CEO is a narcissist who only cares about her bottom line. People are disposable to her and she doesn't respect or trust her employees. She touts a fantastic company culture but has created a toxic working environment where employees work under constant duress and fear. Warning: self-care is only non-negotiable for the CEO herself, not any of her employees. So don't come in expecting your self-care to be valued. In fact, expect it to be abused. At one point the benefits were competitive for such a small company, but these have been cut back and several layoffs have occurred within the last year alone. The team has shrunk but more than 50% in about a year and the entire leadership team aside from the CEO left the company while I was still employed by Pivot. Staff was let go for very shady reasons and the underlying business and financial decisions made by current leadership seem very shady as well. In summary: it's not worth it! The values are lies! Stay away!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I can see that your time at Pivot Strategies left you with strong feelings. I apologize that you had such a negative experience. I take all feedback seriously, even when it’s difficult to hear, because it’s important to me that we learn and grow from all perspectives. I want to address some of the serious accusations in your review. At Pivot Strategies, we’ve always strived to build a culture of transparency, respect, and trust. I can assure you that our leadership team works hard every day to foster a positive and supportive environment where our employees feel valued, not disposable. The suggestions that we’ve created a toxic environment or that employees are treated with disrespect are painful to read, as they don’t align with the values I work hard to uphold. Regarding the layoffs and staffing changes, it’s true that we’ve gone through a challenging period, which included the unfortunate need to make difficult financial decisions. Our intention was never to harm our employees and I’m deeply sorry if those changes were experienced as unfair or abrupt. We did everything we could to ensure that those decisions were made with care and compassion. Our benefits have not been cut, but we’ve had to adjust in response to the market and the needs of the business. The claim about self-care is something I take seriously. It’s one of our core values and I make it a priority to model and encourage work-life balance for everyone at the company. I’m sorry that you felt that was not the case during your time here. I always strive to lead by example and I’m committed to improving in this area. Ultimately, my goal as the CEO of Pivot Strategies is to create a place where employees feel empowered, supported, and respected. I’m sorry that we didn’t meet those expectations during your time with us. I’m always open to further conversations and feedback so we can continue to evolve, improve, and build a company that truly reflects our values. Thank you again for sharing your perspective and I wish you nothing but the best moving forward.

Toxic Environment

Pros

The people on the team are wonderful. They are supportive, collaborative and genuinely want to see each other and the company succeed. Most of the job is work from home, depending on your clients, so the flexibility is great. Benefits are pretty competitive for a small company.

Cons

The "leadership team" is two underqualified individuals on a power trip. Neither of them have any proven experience in leading businesses or people nor have they demonstrated the ability to try and do right by their team/people. The CEO views her employees as walking $ and doesn't care about them as people like she claims to. If you aren't making her as much money as possible, she'll make you feel worthless. She makes snarky comments about other employees and their personal lives and it's very unprofessional and immature. Overall, the behavior of the leadership team is disappointing and has a negative impact on the work environment. The closer you are to the leadership team, the more toxic the environment is. If you can stay away from them, it can be a great place to work. Not a lot of room for advancement in your career, responsibilities or compensation. Pay increases YOY are less than 3% while boasting about how well the company is doing.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I truly appreciate your kind words about the team—the people at Pivot Strategies are indeed at the center of everything we do and I am proud to work alongside such a talented and supportive group. That being said, I would like to address some of the concerns you raised, particularly because so much has changed since this review was posted. I understand that your experience at the time was shaped by challenges that we have since worked hard to overcome. We have invested significant time and effort into building a stronger leadership team and I’m confident that the leadership today is far more aligned and experienced than what you encountered. Our company values our employees deeply because, quite simply, without our people, there would be no business. Every decision we make revolves around ensuring the well-being and success of our team. Since the time of your review, we’ve worked to create a healthier and more transparent work environment, including better opportunities for career growth, clear communication, and meaningful feedback loops that are actually acted upon. We have also focused on creating a more balanced and positive culture across all levels of the organization. I take feedback seriously and strive to be the best leader I can be, learning from past experiences to improve the company for our employees and our clients. The people on our team are not just assets to me—they are the reason we succeed. We have made great strides in providing competitive compensation, career development opportunities, and an environment where every person feels valued and heard. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. I wish you all the best and if you ever find yourself reflecting on the current state of Pivot Strategies, I hope you'll see the progress we’ve made toward a stronger, more positive company.

Dangerous and Desperate

Pros

Co-workers were thoughtful, caring and talented individuals who made the company what it was.

Cons

Negative owner that blamed others for her lack of abilities. Lied to clients about the state of the company and the capabilities it could perform leaving clients with poor results and disappointed employees. Owner cared more about looking successful and fitting in with the wealthy/elite executives of our clients than she did about her employees or the integrity employees would personally have on the line when she’d consistently over promise and under delivered.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that your experience at Pivot Strategies did not align with the values I strive to uphold. I take all feedback seriously and I am always open to using it as an opportunity to reflect and improve. I want to address the concerns raised about our work with clients. Integrity is a core value at Pivot Strategies and we take great pride in the strong, trusting relationships we have built with our clients over the years. The suggestion that we deceive clients or overpromise and underdeliver is not reflective of our practices. We are committed to providing honest, high-quality services and ensuring our clients' needs are met with transparency and professionalism. As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment, we regularly survey our team to solicit feedback, host one-on-one meetings, and hold team-wide meetings to ensure there is open communication between leaders and staff. We even bring our team members together in person from all over the country to help build a sense of community and strengthen two-way communication. These efforts are designed to encourage a strong company culture, where feedback is valued and used to drive continuous improvement. As for the legal concerns mentioned, I understand that issues such as non-compete agreements and intellectual property can be sensitive. I want to emphasize that any actions taken in this regard are always aimed at protecting the company’s interests and ensuring fair treatment for all involved. We take these matters seriously, and they are handled with care, in line with industry standards. Ultimately, my focus as the owner of Pivot Strategies is to create a positive, supportive work environment where both clients and employees are treated with respect and honesty. I’m incredibly proud of our team and the work we’ve done together, and I remain committed to continuously improving our company culture and operations. Thank you again for your feedback.
