Advancement? Be a Mormon

Pros

Free snacks; good work/life balance

Cons

Managers who are not qualified to be in their positions; only Mormons get promoted into good positions; favored employees get preferential treatment and can almost do whatever they want including behavior that would have got them terminated at just about any other company.

As with most new and developing companies, Precoa’s founders grew the company by reaching out to the people they trusted who were in their network. Being part of the Mormon community lent itself to recruiting men and women of the Mormon faith. While this has been historically true, there has been a shift in hiring practices to diversify hiring channels in recognition of the need for varying perspectives and work experience. As the company continues to grow, these new hires have been and will be given the same consideration for promotion and professional development. I am a newer employee that is not of Mormon faith. I have received opportunity as well as a promotion since my employment at Precoa. This advancement and professional development has been based on merit and qualification. I do recognize that, generally, I am in the minority of non-Mormon employees when sitting on committees or working on cross-departmental teams. While some people in this situation may feel uncomfortable, I have not experienced exclusivity. I feel that people I have come into contact with are open and inclusive. No matter the faith of the individuals at Precoa, all the people I work with are smart, motivated, ambitious, inclusive, and professional – and those are the characteristics that matter to me.

False Promises and Double Standards

Pros

Flexible work schedule. Great company trip every year, if you qualify. There are many great and talented individuals who work in the HQ and out in the field.

Cons

Poor senior management and leadership. Much of the management team has little to no experience outside of Precoa and have promoted through prior relationships with the executive team and other senior individuals. Seems that most of the focus of the company is to mold employees into one specific persona and not interested in utilizing individual talents or characteristics. If you don't fit this mold, good luck breaking into the "boys club". Talent and capability are not considered when looking to promote and are often used against individuals when opportunities for advancement arise. Personal situations that are irrelevant to work have often hindered individuals opportunity for advancement as well. The culture could be described as a "gossip beehive" and its hard to trust the word of many individuals in leadership positions. The benefits are pretty poor as well.

Hi there. Thanks for taking the time to provide some feedback. I’m sorry that you didn’t have a great experience in your time at Precoa. We have received similar feedback in the past and want you to know that we are actively working to improve some of the issues that you addressed. Specifically when it comes to clear and fair career progression, we have been working to equip our managers with tools that can be used to effectively communicate with employees. While we have by no means perfected these processes, I want you to know that we have taken your feedback to heart and are working every day to make Precoa a place where all of our employees feel valued and appreciated
