Pros

Proactive Talent is indeed a hidden gem and is unlike anything you will ever see anywhere else. The CEO, Will Staney, is one of the few real leaders who lead from the front and does so with unwavering enthusiasm, passion, and a no-nonsense approach. The company is bootstrapped in every sense of the word from operating with no debt to growing strategically at the precise moment it will raise the bar to do so. You will never find a more committed group of Talent Brand and Talent Aquisition leaders than those who evangelize the Proactive Talent Tribe. Unlike most companies that treat their employees as a means to an end, Proactive Talent walks the walk and talks the talk. The company invests in growing it's Tribe by empowering entrepreneurs to have the autonomy to control their destiny by doing the work they enjoy while flying the Proactive Talent flag and having a coalition of other professionals at their fingertips for support and guidance. For a 90% remote organization, Proactive Talent collaborates better than most companies through the use of an advanced technology stack. Every voice is heard here, no matter whose it is. From c-suite to the leadership team to the lead consultants to the recruiters, marketing specialists, and everyone in between. No one person here is more significant than the whole, not even the CEO. Everyone works together as equals to better serve clients and the tribe as a whole, and everyone is held to the same level of accountability.

Cons

The company is in its early growth stages and has newly begun to establish its core leadership team; thus many processes are still being developed. It's also very much a startup environment where everyone is expected to jump in head first and get their hands dirty from day one to be successful. If you're not accustomed to moving fast, being agile, holding yourself accountable, and thinking outside the box, then this company isn't for you. As a company that solely works with independent contractors outside of its core leadership team, the work can sometimes be inconsistent depending on your skill set and the type of client projects coming in. However, contractors are always encouraged to bring in their own clients as a part of the Proactive Talent brand to help diminish any inconsistency. As you would expect from being a contractor, there is also no employee benefits for non-employees aside from having the flexibility to work from anywhere. You will be compensated fairly despite the lack of benefits for non-employees.

Pros

- flexible work schedule - both remote and in-office options - supportive CEO - Hardworking and kind co-workers - so much opportunity to grow in your career

Cons

Most of the team is remote and scattered across the continent, so sometimes the in-office feeling is not very traditional. However, PT works very hard to facilitate and cultivate positive co-worker relations.

Thank you so much for your review! We take great pride that we've built a very flexible and remote worker-friendly culture. As our local team here in Austin has grown lately I think you'll find that the office is quite busy and bustling now. Feel free to join us at the monthly Austin happy hour when the Austin team comes together to bond and you'll get a real feel for the large team you get to work with day to day. Don't forget we also have our Team Retreats when we fly in the whole Tribe from across the country 1-2 times a year for some face to face time and planning sessions. Thank you so much for being a part of our Tribe!

Pros

A great owner and founder of the company to work for. At Proactive Talent, there is a collaboration and transparency that typically isn't seen from ownership down. (everyone feels like they have a voice and are heard) This company is going places and has seen tremendous growth in its first two years. It is very exciting to be a part of a team of qualified and experienced individuals. The diversity in types of companies that we work with is exciting and motivating. Lastly, as a veteran salesperson, the investment in sales technology that the owner is committed to is a welcomed addition.

Cons

The model of this young company currently is a freelance model, which means great pay, but no benefits. (I am on my wife's plan, so not that big of a drawback)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and we're glad to hear you're as excited about the growth and model of our company as well as the advanced toolset we provide our teams. We truly believe that we're more than a company of freelance practitioners, we're a community. With that model, we may not offer benefits just yet for most staff but that will change soon. For the "core team" (sales, marketing, biz ops, internal HR/recruiting, etc) that supports all our freelance consultants and recruiters, we'll be moving to an FTE model early next year with benefits. For consultants, on-demand recruiters, and other freelance staff who are growing their own businesses through our co-op community, we'll likely always be this model as we believe it allows for entrepreneurs to have greater earning potential through very generous revenue share and allows for more autonomy over their work.
