Pros
Financial technology power house. Everyone is technical. Tries to automate everything. No politics. Flexibility for remote work. Pay is good, good amount of annual leave. Manager provides flexibility in work. HK site is relatively low pressure environment as it is only operational site. You just make sure systems are up and running. Then you work on side tasks such as improving the monitoring system / data workflow.
Cons
Hours for the Hong Kong office sucks. Starts at 5:45 or 6:45am depending on time of the year. Most of my energy drained by the middle of the day. Join if you are willing to trade hours for money. No career progress in HK office as it is an operational center. You can advance to operational team lead / manager, but that is about it. Your compensation increases yearly but you will keep on doing the same brainless operational work. Not enough new task opportunities in HK. Most interesting technical work (development) is initiated in the NY. HK office takes some tasks from NY but only the basic ones ie data. Manager talks on elitism, and would not hire me if I'm not elite; I don't think I am an elite so I would just stare back blank neither agreeing nor declining. Some pressure there HK benefits are inferior to NY and LDN office, some unfairness.
