Great on a micro level, macro level needs improvements
27 Oct 2022 - Trainee Investment Manager in Birmingham, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- My direct team and office are great: really friendly, skilled and offer lots of support - Birmingham Office is nice, has good facilities and positive culture. - Training offered is top level and support received in first few weeks is invaluable. - Day to day job role is interesting and engaging whilst also remaining productive. - Have been encouraged to attend wider events to improve industry experience. - Great working from home provision, with all necessary tech and software provided.
Cons
- Pay is very low compared to competitors. Even after an overwhelmingly positive interview, in which I really clicked with the team, I nearly turned down the offer when I saw the salary: £3k-£4k lower than other firms with similar benefit packages. Unfortunately, if this doesn't improve over the first few years, I may be forced to look elsewhere. - Opportunities for progression, pay review and extra opportunities that were promised at interview are yet to materialise. I believe they were offered in good faith but local management's ability to enact such things seems hampered by senior management. - Role lacks structure and pathway can be very confusing.

- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Good social calendar Well equipped facilities
Cons
The culture within the organisation is beyond toxic. Departments are staffed with fake management and colleagues who have not only have zero interest in upholding the values underpinning the business, but do not support each other. Some managers are completely incompetent in managing staff properly and really need to work at the basics - learning how to talk to people, delegating responsibilities etc. IT systems are also outdated and the process of trying to get anything sorted with them is tiring and painful. Needing to be registered to work from home is absolutely ridiculous in this day and age especially as many firms have moved to a hybrid working model. This just adds to the point that the way things are done at this organisation are unecessarilly complicated and difficult.

12 Jan 2021 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Nice London office, nice people, good company communication, very good pension benefits,
Cons
Senior management showcase that business is running smoothly but in the background they have dumped extra load of work on a small amount of people, they use minor reasons to stop your growth, managers in the onboarding team are not supportive when you put forward your concerns they use your own reasons to put you down. They do not take criticism well either.
