Pros

Young, motivated engineers ready to expand their careers. Large effort in employee functions working at the corporate office. Good benefits to attract experienced engineers.

Cons

Sink or swim mentality. Boys club within the transportation group. Technology is significantly behind with unwillingness to update. Old-school Caltrans engineers and principals like things done the old-school way. Small projects. Management team doesn't like change whatsoever and is resistant to ideas of improving for efficiency and accuracy. Skilled staff with technology experience don't usually stick around either due to frustration or not using 'old school' procedures.

Pros

Small top-notch transportation engineering firm that fosters good relationships among employees. Great teams do great work and have worked on infrastructure projects throughout California and the Pacific Northwest.

Cons

There are some complaints of an old boys network mentality, along with outdated programs, i.e. lack of a database to centralize project descriptions.
