Pros

The animals are cute though

Cons

Management bias to their friends Overheard management making racist comments No growth Toxic environment Speaking to HR will get you a disciplinary from management Management often pick someone to nitpick and attack individually and when they get bored pick someone else Quick to put animals to sleep Only take in easy and rehomable dogs by using the waiting list as a shopping catalogue

Awful employer

Pros

Helping the animals but that's even difficult with being shut more hours than being open now (in a 24h period). Senior management are too bothered about keeping their empires building than making sure we can cover more hours rescuing animals. I know that is negative too!!

Cons

Bullying by the Human Recources (HR) department is wide spread and quite out of control. I truly believe they actually think they're beyond accountability for how they treat staff

Pros

The junior team at the time (of whom none are left) were great. I worked for 3 or 4 "Centre Managers" all of whom were experienced and lovely people, who saw us through difficult times with Covid and the financial crises.

Cons

However the change in top management of the branch that took place in 2020 left us with constant churn of senior staff and managers, and junior staff too, and this ultimately comes down to the behaviour, immaturity and general paranoia of the branch CEO. She also had a connection with us when she worked for the national RSPCA before magically getting this job. She has seen off more managers and staff than I can remember and upset all manner of supporters and goodwill suppliers.

Pros

-Some of the admin and animal care staff are nice. -Animals are lovely.

Cons

-Poor management - They offered me hybrid working and then went back on it. -Poor conflict resolution abilities- management (the CEO at RSPCA Sheffield) seems to think the best way to deal with conflict is to have employees (managers) shout at eachother for as long as it takes. This is incredibly stressful for everyone involved and very unprofessional. - New managers are not enabled as the staff who have been there the longest are given the most power and listened to the most despite being less qualified. - Most of the staff (including management) just have college qualifications yet will lecture more qualified and more experienced staff regarding the animals. -Poor pay considering job role.
