Pros

- They conned some pretty stellar non-management people to work there. - Nice office location. You don't have to fight downtown traffic, and have views of the waterfront.

Cons

- All other perks like spending money on office snacks, the gym, video games, company parties, are used against staff later when they have any legitimate complaints, so I can't put the perks as a pro (e.g. "how can you complain about our culture? We have ViDeO gAmEs!") - Management are allowed to be direct with feedback (often aggressive as well) but if anyone else is not simperingly sweet while delivering criticism, they're vilified and labeled as hard to work with. - Few people are allowed to do their job - the executives have a vision for how goals should specifically be accomplished, do not ask for feedback about that vision, and then expect everyone to follow marching orders. - Lots of dodging different governments (e.g. US, Australia) to make sure websites that are advertising illegal behavior don't get shut down in those regions, and keep making money, which is exhausting. - HR and management work together to sweep serious complaints (e.g. sexual harassment) under the rug.

Pros

- They pay for your cellphone bill and health insurance - There were once some awesome people who worked here, however, they are all quitting - Work/life balance is pretty good - HR are lovely and they do care, unfortunately they are handcuffed by an incompetent and unqualified executive team who are simply in those roles due to seniority in the industry and being friends with each other. - The ex-CEO is a great person and there are very faint traces of his legacy left - key term: very faint. New leadership has destroyed this place.

Cons

- A workplace where dreams go to die - When I started here, I was ambitious, confident and celebrated in my field. When I left, I was so torn down, abused and defeated that I questioned whether I was good enough to be working within my discipline and was considering a full career change.

 - Extreme sexism, gaslighting and abuse. Newcomers to Canada are often paid far less than their white counterparts for the same roles. Women are routinely passed over for promotions and treated with an immense double standard in comparison to their male counterparts. - Many recruiters in Eastern Canada gave told me directly that they don’t want to touch this place with a ten foot pole because its reputation has gotten to be so bad. -
Client industries are legally questionable at best. This creates extreme secrecy and an environment that's okay with bending the rules, trickling into how employees are treated and what kind of behaviour is tolerated.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, however these are very serious allegations we’d like the opportunity to address. Our HR team works to partner with the business and our executive leadership at all levels of the organization. If you’ve experienced any situation with sexism, gaslighting or abuse we take that extremely seriously and we strongly urge you to get in touch with our HR department so that we can discuss further. Our compensation policies are fair and just, and do not discriminate against anyone, regardless of gender or ethnicity. We promote as often as possible internally, and focus on developing our front line employees and managers through our LMS, DEIB training, and career development. If this was your actual experience with us, we hope you will reach out to our HR team to provide us with more situational information.

Poorly Managed, Toxic Environment

Pros

- Amazing benefits - Employee perks (laptop, paid phone, in-office snacks) - Some truly great people

Cons

- Toxic work environment that tries to hide their issues behind the added "benefits." Yes, they have some great perks, but be prepared to have that feel like it is used against you if you feel as though actual business practices are poor. - Constant restructuring. Most people within the company are unable to tell you what their job title is, as the company has reorganized the org chart approximately once a year. - HR is ineffective. Most of the HR department feels as though they are covering for an incompetent executive leadership team rather than looking out for the well-being of the employees. Often, HR will listen and then your concerns will not lead to any change. - Sexism. Without a doubt, a culture of toxic masculinity that is clearly favouring of men to women. Women are often passed up for promotions they deserve while members of the "boys club" get preferential treatment. - The executive leadership team are completely out of touch. The current leaders of the company missed several critical opportunities to expand their business in legitimate and rapidly growing industries. Instead, they continue to follow rather than lead, which has led to seedier and seedier business practices. - All the good people have gone. Yes, this may sound like a personal opinion, but every talented or ambitious working within the company has left after their mistreatment. Anyone with true desire to grow and learn quickly realizes that there is no upward progression.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, however on behalf of our HR team we do not agree with your representation of our department. Yes, we have been growing at a rapid rate, and will continue to do so. We apologize if that led to some confusion, and that is something we can work on internally to improve. We pride ourselves on our ‘people first’ culture, and we strongly urge anyone who has experienced sexism or toxic masculinity within the work place to get in touch with our HR team immediately- as this is something we do not tolerate.
