Pros

None. Unless you count paid holidays.

Cons

- literally just have a conversation with you during your “interview” and make it sound perfect.. like it is the absolute best place to work...where everyone is friendly and welcoming, there is teamwork, communication, etc. etc. of course they’d say that, but don’t stretch the truth too far -be aware. This could not be any further from the truth. DO NOT work here. The atmosphere is completely fake and it is extremely hostile. No one is friendly, it’s all a facade. It is every man for himself, and the folks are extremely “cliquey” and if they don’t like you, they will bully you until you quit and/or complain about you until you leave/are let go of. Everyone from the office and business staff up to the management. -Multiple ways of doing things. You will be placed on a team, but you will work with every single team. But, you won’t be working as a team. You’ll be told different things on purpose so you’ll fail, and they’ll watch you as you fail. And then blame everything on you. -the training is completely lacking... because, there is absolutely no training, at all. Their “hands on training” is you just “following” other techs for a few days who don’t really explain anything to you. Then, you’re thrown in there and you are expected to screen the majority of ELDERLY patients within 5-7 minutes. When you most likely haven’t fully grasped navigation of the system itself, nor know all of the testing and/or questions to ask, not to mention most elderly move and respond slower. Screening patients in that short amount of time is ridiculous, not to mention, how do you build rapport? When you don’t even actually get a real chance to interact with them. The older folks move and respond slower and patients end up waiting for a long period of time for one provider in clinic. If it was extremely busy and the provider is moving quickly, that’s another thing. But this seems to be consistent and it isn’t good. -the hours of operation to the clinic is absolutely out the window. Depending on the team you’re working with and the location you’re at, you start anywhere between 715-830 in the morning, and you will travel depending on where you’re assigned. The catch? There is no set end time. You can be there until anytime, especially if you’re working as one of the scribes. The last patient can be scheduled and may not show up on time or, at all. There can be emergencies and add ons, which is understandable, but, it gets pretty ridiculous. And you have to wait around just to say “bye” to the doctor. -the equipment needs to be replaced and most of it does not work. It is highly embarrassing when patients point that out. Barber chairs in place of actual appropriate chairs. One of the locations isn’t even compatible with what they do. Yet they service that area because that is where they can get patients. The list goes on. -everyone is expected to learn every aspect of the job, which is completely acceptable and understandable. However, once again, the training is next to nothing. You will start off screening and move onto other parts including scribing (which is completely different from what people are used to), OCTs, and photos. They are also expected to take and make triage phone calls,PODIS, and a host of other things. There is a lot of information and lack of training being thrown at you, and it’s easy to become lost and overwhelmed. The staff are overworked and under appreciated. -the management is absolutely ridiculous. They overwork everyone and complain that some get overtime, while others don’t even make their full time status, while others are part time but are working full time hours. They’re always changing something every other day, and it’s hard to keep up. There is little done to resolve problems, and if the providers know or something, oftentimes, it’s not their problem, even though, it’s their practice -traveling and mileage reimbursement is a joke...never grasped it, and it’s certain that people were shorted at any given opportunity. -they play favorites and if you’re not liked or do not click, you’re out. It’s extremely sad and unprofessional, creating a hostile environment that no one enjoys. -not certain of what it is, but many of these folks have this mentality that they’re better than the rest of you, and everything is a competition, including most of the office staff. It is not the welcoming friendly atmosphere, they make it out to be. -they hire literally anyone and everyone, and claim “we take those who know little about ophthalmology and train them to become technicians” without even giving them a real or fair chance of ever succeeding -they go around hiring and firing people like it’s something to parade about. A high turnover is a serious sign, of the company’s standing.. from the time I was there for about 2 months, 4 people have been let go -a lot is lacking within this company including teamwork, communication, culture, Senior management, work/life balance, professionalism, and values -sterile procedures are not done in a sterile environment and supplies are lacking -heed the advice of others if you know someone that works there -would never recommend anyone work here, and it isn’t worthy of any stars -Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere
