Pros

- Nice products - so many great things could be done. - Nice tech - even if not everything is homemade. - Talented and nice people - at least when I was there (extreme turnover). - Wide scope - even too wide, you may be asked to do anything and everything. - Remote friendly.

Cons

- Worst work experience ever - worked in +5 different companies so far. - The opposite of a startup: a small company but old, not growing, in a top-down work environment. - Main team-working/decision/specification tool: the email... go French Tech go! - Company mainly surviving thanks to interns, external contractors, workers and tech/products acquisitions. - Reverso is very small. So you will surely happen to work closely with (for) the founder, which very few people can sustain. - Work in silo/Isolated. I was often forbidden to contact teammates to "not make them lose time". - No vision, no strategy. Erratic, irrational decisions. Your day-to-day will consist in managing your manager, prove that 1+1=2 and maintain some kind of continuity despite daily back-and-forths. - Constant bashing, belittling, condescension, even insults toward your work or yourself. I witnessed so many unacceptable things. - Overall a very toxic environment, where burnout and mental breakdown are a serious risk if you are invested in what you do, if you don’t have enough professional experience yet, or enough self-confidence in your skills.

Pros

nice colleagues, flexible working conditions

Cons

Micromanaging CEO makes work extremely frustrating. He complains about employees to each other and sometimes yells. Ask any current employee about the working environment.

Pros

- Reverso maintains some of the best linguistic tools out there and has great data to support them. - My colleagues were extremely nice and seemed to have both talent and focus. - The pay was a bit higher than I expected. - There wasn't much time dedicated to the usual management routine: no everyday reports, no daily scrum meetings. I found that appealing after a work experience where reporting was overwhelming.

Cons

- Irregular micromanagement is highly frustrating. Weeks could go by in silence, then I would have to explain all the minutiae and answer tons of questions for several days afterwards. - Data science field has seen so many breakthroughs over the past few years, and yet there has not been enough work done in this direction at Reverso. Interns are promised exciting work on new features, then drown in low-level routine without ever fulfilling their potential as engineers. A certain amount of workload could be easily automated away. This is because the main focus at Reverso is not so much on quality improvements, despite the constant talk about them, but rather on solving bad cases, and this kind of optimization is unsustainable. - Unclear goals and metrics as a result of sporadic, shallow management as well as lack of knowledge about SOTA. - I was discussed in emails with other people, who found these discussions rather shocking and inappropriate. Behind my back, I was often belittled. Worse, I am aware that mine is not a unique case.
